Hi all, I have been away for quite a while (longer than what I was wanting to be), but I am back now. I am once again asking for your help, my last thread was about how I was in urgent need of help with repairing my Powerbook 170, and currently it is mostly finished, except I am needing to have help with repairing the OS installation. I am still quite new to all this vintage mac stuff, and I am quite lost for where I am to go in order to find the installation floppy disk images.

By some miracle, the HDD that I have in the machine (the one that came out of the second one I bought specifically for parts), is working perfectly and is sounding insanely healthy. The OS just seems to be a bit corrupted or incomplete, this is preventing it from fully booting into the OS. Can someone please help me out?

I am able to provide pictures later on this afternoon, but right now I am just wanting to know if there is anyone that can help me with my plight.

Bonus details:
I am also planning on either repairing or modifying the battery packs that I have, and I was wondering if someone could tell me if it would be possible to use rechargeable Ni-MH AA sized batteries in the reconstruction process. If the answer is yes, could someone please tell me if there is a 3D printable file for this sort of situation?

Off topic:
I am a little unsure but I was wondering if someone could tell me where I can go on here to post questions and ask for help with regards to 3D printing? I recently got one (it is a fun story), and I was hoping to have some people maybe help me get started with my particular printer and the software.

Off topic 2:
I also got a pretty high end scanner and I was wondering if there was a forum on here that would be able to help me sort out any issues that I am currently having with it.

Thank you all again so much for your help so far and for making me feel welcome and comfortable with asking people on the internet that have similar interests for help or just chatting with them.

Take a look over at macintoshgarden.org. I can't remember where exactly the set of install floppies I use on my 170 and 180 came from, but I'm pretty sure they're the generic 7.5 ones. I doubt there's a floppy version of 7.6.1. If you look enough you might find floppy images of the version that shipped with the 170 somewhere...probably on macintoshgarden.
