Once upon a time, I got the bright idea of fixing a PowerBook Duo with a bad display. The computer had been stored in a hot and humid space, and the screen contracted "vinegar syndrome" (so named due to the vinegar-like odor coming from the screen. I decided the thing to do was to peel off both sides of the damaged polarizer film. Let me say that was not fun. The glue used to attach the film is very strong. However, eventually, I removed all of it and got the glass clean. Then I realized how hard it is to find replacement polarizers the right size (or bigger that I could cut down). While several places sell polarizers for phone screens, even small laptop screens are more challenging.
So, the screen has just sat in my shop. Does anyone have any experience applying a new polarizer film to an LCD? The risk of air bubbles etc., seems quite intimidating.
