Reattaching an Apple badge onto a compact Mac

Does anyone have any recommendations for a type or brand of glue I should use to reattach an Apple badge?

The original glue seems like a yellow layer of goo, and it's still very sticky after 30 years. I want to avoid using things like super glue or epoxy to allow the badge to be removed again sometime in the future.

I was thinking using a glue gun as it could be removed in the future by applying some alcohol, but the badge will probably fall off on its own after a couple years if I do use a glue gun.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

How to Remove the Badge

Do NOT use any hot air tools (hair dryer, heat gun) as you will damage the bezel. Most commonly, you can push it out from the inside using the pin hole on the back. If a paperclip fits use that. if your case has a narrower hole, use the dull side of a needle.

If it's not budging, try pushing it out while placing the badge directly under hot running water (60C/140F). After several seconds, you should be able to push it out. The hot water will help soften the adhesive used without damaging the bezel.
Don't be afraid to give it an extra push, these don't bend easily from a paperclip.

I've almost always just reused the existing glue, as it's still really sticky.

School glue/PVA might work well for this job. Once, I used some double sided tape with good results.

I'd definitely stay far away from superglue --it would be really easy to ruin a badge with that kind of glue.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I found "glue dots" being sold online, they seem similar to the material used to attach credit cards to paper. I'll compare those to double sided tape and pick which ever works best.

PS, I've added instructions to my original post of best way to get the badges out in case anyone is having trouble.
