Recently, some of you may be aware of a ban handed out to a now former member of our community.
The reason for that members ban is still valid and the ban will therefore stand (Reason: Violation of the code of conduct).
However, the language used in the ban message itself was not just inappropriate and detrimental to TinkerDifferent as a community, it was also a clear violation of the code of conduct itself.
To be perfectly clear from the outset - that ban message was written by myself.
As current board president, it's my job to not just make sure the code of conduct is enforced, but to abide by it myself.
I should be setting the example, and be better than that.
Now, some might expect me to trot out some sort of excuse at this juncture to absolve myself of responsibility but the simple truth is - I made a mistake.
A mistake which I regret, and wish to apologise for, unreservedly. This mistake cannot and will not be repeated.
As a direct result of this incident, an early board meeting was convened and as a result of of discussion, policies have been put in place to prevent this from happening again.
