EDIT: incase people are like ROM-inWHAT ROM-INATOR at big mess o wire's now being sold via Kay
So i watched @JDW video on the Rom-inator . and because i'm impulsive and at the time there was no kit to buy. I decided to just try my hand at buying all the things. (also was thinking about doing this ANYWAY's ...)
So I downloaded the plans for the board and uploaded them to a company to make the boards. got the surface mount NOR gate, the ROM chips, the ROM programer so i can program said rom chip.
I completed assembling the board today
I'm glad i'm not in the business of selling assmbled boards! I still need more practice. like Some of the holes for the PLUS I covered up on accident. its UNUSED in my case (going into a 512k)
I'm also not very happy with the solder job I did to the PIN's on the CPU. I think i'm going to redo them. At some point instead of getting the beep. I got static. IT turns out its really hard to hold a wire in molten solder till it cools.
But it does work if i position the cables right! and i was able to play a game of shuffle puck from the ROM. with _NO_ drives connected. (not even a floppy emu, and eagle eyes may notice no drive in the computer)
If anybody is thinking about getting one of @Kay K.M.Mods 's kits I say do it!
(and avoid having to order boards and program ROM chips)
