Rust inhibitor for Mac SE shield?

Working on restoring an SE/30 that had some light rust on the logic board. The rust spread to the metal bar that goes across the board. Part number 805-0905 -B I have managed to desolder this bracket/brace/shield from the board and scrape all the rust off. Before I reinstall this should I coat it with anything? paint it?

According to JDW in his SE reloaded video he coated it with some electrically conductive anti-rust stuff. I've tried to order it but I can't get it shipped to the US from Japan.

Any other suggestions on what to use on this to prevent rust before I reinstall it?

If you really want to make it nice, and keep it conductive, you could electroplate it. I had some SE frame parts done in zinc and this example in nickel. I sent them to a local shop, but it's definitely doable DIY too, especially for a smaller part like the MLB frame.

I had all the internal metalwork in my clear SE/30 nickel-plated too. In the end it cost me $100 but looks amazing just like @Elemenoh 's photo. I think it's worth it (and if you have other frames to get plated or can bring on some friends who do) the incremental cost to add more isn't much.

Yeah if you pay a shop it’s advantageous to have them do as large of a batch of parts as possible. I did a bunch of SE/30 parts along with a full set of Lisa frame parts. It was also about $100 or so. But for the small MLB part you could do it yourself with a little piece of nickel or zinc you can get on amazon and a bench power supply or car battery. There’s not much to the process.

I think for this machine I'm just going to give it a very light coat of WD-40. Definitely going to do that nickel plating though someday.

Corrosion-X is a great coating to exclude water and prevent rust. If there is any residual rust, it prevents it from spreading. I’ve used it on floppy drive mechanisms that were crusted and immobile with rust, immediately after rinsing them off after an overnight soak in Evaporust. They’ve stayed rust free.
