Hello, what is the best way to ship an old Mac from Japan? I see many people mentioning using buyee.jp, but how do you make sure that they pack these old Macs properly so that you don't end up with broken CRTs, etc.? Any tips appreciated! Apologies if this question was asked a million times already. I've been trying to research, but all I get is how much and how long it takes.

Hi there!

I have purchased 2 times from buyee.jp and they pack well (or at least they have done a good job) IF you are still concerned you can pay extra to buyee.jp directly to re-repack your items to have more peace of mind.

So far the only issues I have had from japan is that the 2 boards I got where so corroded that they where past repair, but "shipping damage" was none existent.

Good luck! :)

Thank you very much for your reply. If you don't mind, do you remember which shipping option you used? I'm thinking "Buyee Air Delivery".

If you're buying through Buyee, definitely pay the extra $15 or so to have them repack the computer. If you don't, they'll just put a new shipping label on whatever packaging the seller used, which may or may not be adequate to survive international shipping. I had a Color Classic arrive in perfect condition because I had them repack it, and they used lots of bubble wrap and expanding foam packs.
