Hi,
Quite happy to have discovered this Temperature display and Fan controller thanks to ActionRetro on his Youtube channel.
Q950 T Display.jpeg

For $20, you have a device with 3 temperature probes, displaying the T and you can manually adjust the fan Speed with 3 settings (6, 9 and 12V). You can also set up Alarm T and the speed is adjusting (not tried this one yet).
I spent quite sometime with my Quicksilver, measuring the T of the CPU heatsink, Video card ans exhaust air to select the best combination Fan, Noise, Efficiency with the BBQ thermometer, supposed to check the meat T o_O
Would have been easier with this one.
I am going to use it to measure the difference between the old fan of the Quadra 950 and 2 new Noctua that I have bought to reduce the noise.
Here is the link if you are interested.

Wow, @Borgmac, that is a fascinating find! :)

I understand it needs a Noctua fan that has 4-pin. I have some questions:
  • How exactly do you wire? 🤔
  • Red and black wires from PSU or the board? ⚡
  • Do the other two wires go to that fan controller? 🌬️
  • Where did you connect the other two wires? 🤷‍♂️
  • What about the other sensor wires?
  • Can you please take some pictures of the wiring locations to make it more visual? 📸

This thingy does have the potential to be applied to other Macs, internally and externally, with some tinkering, 3D printing, alchemy custom work, and wizardry. :sneaky:

Paging @jajan547, @-SE40-, @Kay K.M.Mods, and @Trash80toG4. I think there are more lurking here on TinkerDifferent who would also like to watch this. :D

No, it does have its own cable for each fan, 3 pins

Connections are
Molex 4 pins for the device power
3 cables with 3 pins for the fans

I put one sensor on HDD, one on the PSU and one on the CPU.
