I’ve rebuilt some displays of the M5884, A1001, and A1025 TiBooks using bare LCDs. Because removing the LCD from a TiBook display will almost always damage the display’s back and sometimes the bezel, I used NOS bezels and display backs from Sunshine Express on eBay to make a new display from the new LCD panels. I do not know if such parts are still being sold.
My placement of the magnet on the back of the LCD (that signals when the TiBook’s lid is closed) was not accurate enough, and many of the repaired TiBooks don’t sleep when the lid is shut as a result. If you decide to go ahead with this project, I suggest making a template using the old screen to help with magnet placement on the back of the new screen, rather than relying on landmarks and/or ruler measurements as I did.
I’ve bought displays and other items from usedmac a number of times, and have usually been pleased. The display in the link, as well as the parts I’ve purchased from them, are parts recovered from preowned Macs, so imperfections do occur.
