I've been using these cheap SD to IDE adapters as seen here. Used them in my PDQ and 1400c and had no issues. Support up to 128gb if the computer allows it, and SD cards are cheap and plentiful.

Welp, this sucks. Two capacitors had their traces lift completely up while desoldering (C5 and C18). Looks like I'll be able to bodge a bit and get it working, but this was definitely not ideal. Any advice appreciated.

Alright. I pulled out a period accurate Apple drive and tested it. And here were the results! Looks like the SD card is literally 3 times faster on the tests.

I will have to dig up a working IDE drive but I think this shows that the SD card has quite a boost in speed over a normal IDE hard drive.
