If you're feeling tinkerish, you can also repack the battery case yourself - opening the case cleanly is the hardest part (it's ultrasonically welded), but replacing the Cyclons inside is easy enough - they just pull out, there's nothing fancy inside.

You can either drop in a cheap 6V/5ah SLA like this: https://www.amazon.com/CA650-Casil-...1_2?keywords=6v+5ah+sla&qid=1638463760&sr=8-2

The charge/discharge profiles seem a little funky, but they work.

Or you can try and find 'OE' Enersys Cyclon SLA replacements... #0800-0013 is the closest I've seen to the original assembly (3 x 2V / 5ah cells), but #0809-0012 or #0800-0011 will also work (I've seen some folks trim down 0809-0012's to fit inside the case). These are usually much more expensive.

You don't even need to repack the case to use any of these replacements, some people just wire up the leads and leave the battery 'loose' (or packed with some insulating / stabilizing material) inside the battery holder.

Personally, I like to remove batteries from the Portable during storage, so I've repacked the original case for easy installation / removal.
