is it possible to work online on PowerPc G4 iBook without freezing?

if I start my iBook offline works smoothly. But if I connect via airport or ethernet starts beachballing !
is there a different solution to working permanently disconnected?
i have an eMac G4 1Ghz and the same thing happens to him. Both run on OSX 10.5.8 Leopard

The general system freezes when online? Or the browser? Internet on a PPC is going to be slow. Usable if you're patient, but slow. If you're entire system freezes on both the eMac and the iBook then I'd honestly have no idea what's up besides a possible incompatibility with your router.

I can't open a browser.
That would be pretending too much.
It's the general system that collapses.
It doesn't even respond to: command+option+esc
Beachballing makes his appearance..

Strange thing is that it happens on multiple systems. Makes me think it's something with your router config.

Modern routers and switches do not place nice with the older TCP/IP standards. Try an older router and/or switch.

I had the same problem with my ppc macs, and even with some old intel Macs running snow leopard. the Mac freezes after connecting to internet.
Go to control panel - network - advanced and disable the IPv6 configs. By default Mac OS keeps this in "auto", change it to "off".
