Yesterday, a viewer of my Macintosh SE & SE/30 Analog Board Recapping Walkthrough video asked me about SCREWS which affix the SE or SE/30 Analog Board to the metal chassis. It was a good question because I too have some missing.
Here is a photo of the TWO TYPES which I have seen over the years...

The silver colored trio at left look almost like MACHINE SCREWS to me, in terms of the threads. The 3 at right I see more often, and despite the lack of a pointy tip, the threads look like a SELF-TAPPING screw to me.
MEASUREMENTS:
SELF-TAPPING
Shaft Length: 9.8mm
Shaft Width: 2.8mm
Head Width: 5.4mm (Phillips)
MACHINE SCREWS
Shaft Length: 9.7mm
Shaft Width: 2.7mm
Head Width: 5.4mm (Phillips)
As shown above, both types have a locking "tooth" washer near the head.
QUESTION: Those of you who have purchased replacements for these in the past, did you choose M3 machine screws, M3 self-tapping screws, or something else? The shaft length is pretty close to 1cm, so I would assume that length would be preferred.
EDIT: Colin very kindly educated me on the proper naming. What I referred to as "self-tapping" are in fact "thread-forming" screws. Thanks, Colin!
