The video all serious Color Classic owners have been waiting for! Thank you, Tom!

The main reason I don't have the kit is because they ran out of that edition LCD at the time I was inquiring with the creator. And I've not heard back from them about their new kit, so I guess they are still working on it.

I was curious about the clear acrylic cover, and your video answers that question, especially with the CRT side-by-side, which shows more glare on the acrylic cover, which is an important consideration for people bothered by glare. I should add that the CRT on the Color Classic is not the same as the lovely anti-glare CRT of the Macintosh 128K, 512K, Plus, SE, SE/30 and Classic. The Color Classic's glass CRT is reflective, simular to the CRT on the LISA. Even that can bother some people, but your video shows the acrylic cover to be even more reflective. So people buying the kit would need to keep that in mind.

You mentioned DUST in your closing CONS section. Does that mean you found dust BEHIND the acrylic cover you would then be unable to clear out after the install is finished? I ask because some people are sensitive to dust behind a transparent display cover (something like dust behind the front glass of an iMac).

I wasn't aware CUTTING was required, but so long as that doesn't prevent you from putting back the CRT (should the need arise), it shouldn't be a big deal.

The main CON I see from your video is AUDIO NOISE. In fact, I have the same issue with my Mac Portable. I hear sounds coming from the BlueSCSI during drive access. Faint, but audible. You said that adding a Ferrite helped, but you did not mention where it was added, or how big it was. Could you share details on that? Also, was the "future shielding solution" the creator mentioned to you able to help you reduce the speaker noise further? (Meaning, if you know what to shield, could the noise be eliminated?)

Thanks for a great video, Tom!

Hi @JDW !!

Thanks for your kind words. With regards to dust, Keith would sometimes encounter dust particles after putting the screen together, and it’s difficult to deal with once assembled.

Also, to your point about the ferrite, you can see it when we attach the speaker cable to the analog board.

I’m a bit jealous of Keith’s 275 now…

I’ll be putting together another video with SE/30, MacEffects case, and some other tomfoolery in January.

Craig (or Tom, haha!)

Also, Franco let us know that the newer design takes care of some of the concerns in our CONS list.

I’m sure there will be another review of that when it’s available.
