Hello all,

I have a powerbook 2400/240c (400mhz g3 upgrade, dunno if this is important) that will not read from a hard drive.

When i first got it, it was able to fine, i install mac os 9, attempted to get 10.1 installed, but ended up needing to remove the hard drive to flash, so i just shelved it.

I got the interest to get it running 10.1 again, booted it up and got a flashing floppy.

It had a tiny leak from the pram battery when i first got it, but i wash all my boards in the dish washer (surpsringly good) and then soak in ipa, so unlikely that did it plus it worked prior.

I tried multiple different drives, reformatted the ssd i had in it, didnt work, tried ankther ssd, same thing, threw the original hard drive back in, and it would spin but not seek, then i tried a 60gb random one same thing.

I really dunno what could be the issue, atp all i can think is the ide controller died, so im planning on removing that, the only issue is idrk where the ide controller is...

Then unfortunately I'd agree the IDE controller seems like the most likely cause, or possibly the hard drive connector. There's just not much else to check.

If you have a spare CardBus slot on it, you could try one of the CompactFlash adapters to see if it will boot from that.
