Kinda lucked into this. Don't know much about it yet.

I hooked it up at first to the side by side drive I have for my IIe to try it out. I took the little RaspberryPi HDMI card out of the IIe to try out in this machine also. I got that Monitor /// free with the stand at our computer event in Boise!

I have since tried with with my Floppy Emu I have for the IIe and flashed for Apple II stuff. Seems to work great.

The Echo card and unit came with the GS. Borrowed the keyboard (and mouse though I haven't used it yet) from my SE30. It did come with an Apple II joystick!

Can anyone help me learn about battery placement? I have seen most others further over to the left (as we are looking at it in this pic) of the motherboard, more under the battery.

Another shot of the battery. It has been replaced. Not soldered on.

I think this wire goes up on the front of the Echo board to power it. There is another similar connector that is on black wires that look to go to the stock speaker that are also unplugged. And I am getting no sound.

Upgraded RAM.

when I looked up some info on where the clock battery goes, it seems like a lot of them are soldered onto the board further to the left under the power supply. This one appears to be where it is supposed to be. (it is a new battery) So I guess this is a ROM 3?? or Rev 3? As I said, don't know much yet.

Anyway, will be fun to learn about this and try some stuff.

Nice find! I don't have one myself, so I can't give any advice.
I was well on the Mac path by the time this machine was made and never really had any Apple // experience at all. Lots of interesting little quirks and things to learn about with this machine, and its alternate universe Apple Computer pathway that ended not long after it was likely made!

I can't see the board assembly number, but that looks like a ROM 03 board, yes. It would be 607-0275-03.

I don't recognize the Tapestry card (it just has a generic 87C51 on it, which is an 8051), but the speaker output might not be enabled if the rear headphone port is in use. Try disconnecting that first? It might be related to the Echo II card, which is a speech synthesizer.

I will look up where to find that number and look for it. Thanks!

Regarding the card, there is that tan wire that was connected to the front right of the board, I believe (forgive this newbie, I am learning) and maybe should be connected to the upper left of that card. There is another identical white connector in that vicinity that seems like it goes over to the stock speaker. So since it was not connected, maybe that is it. I did not try to connect anything to the headphone jack yet. But I could be way off.

The prior owner, more of a Commodore/Amiga guy, was going to test current on it before connecting it. And he will help me with that down the road also.

And yeah, with this, and the other //e I collection I already had, that you can see a couple pieces of in one of the first pics, I figure I have a fairly complete Apple // collection. I had wondered about getting a MacEffects stealth kit, but now that I have both these, I like them each for what they are individually, and each are very good examples. So no need to go spending money on some additional mod project to get to.

I also will likely have a proper color CRT for it through my local club. Though it may need some work.

Hi, what firmware version are you using for the A2DVI? Many thanks.
Not even sure. It just works as I received it. I will figure it out and report back within the next few weeks as I have contact with the seller. It has been in my //e, and I just moved it over to the //gs to try it out there. Didn't do anything other than plug it in a slot.

With regard to sound, I understand now that the line out/headphone out is mono and that you need to get a different sound card for stereo. Anyone have any suggestions? I see something on Joe's Computer Museum, but they look to be out of stock right now.
