    Palm m515 / BlackBerry Curve 8520 - mid to late 2000s productivity!

Hello all, Long time no post/upload - but thought I'd share some mid to late 2000s productivity! Firstly a Palm m515 PDA (bought for all of £4 - sadly I've got no idea if it works or even does anything as sadly it didn't come with cables. And secondly a BlackBerry Curve 8520! I remember...

    The £8 PowerBook G3

Hello all, It seems I’m breeding PowerBook G3s at the moment. The one on the left has shot hinges. But works. Paid all of £8 on eBay for it thanks for eBay and Nectar vouchers. Rocking a 233MHz CPU and it had 32MB RAM but I quickly upgraded that to 256MB. It’s missing some plates and batteries...

Some very forceful PC Card Ejection!

Hello all, not really a post with an issue but more of an observation of my PowerBook G3 PDQ’s ability to send PC Cards flying when ejecting them. If this was a Warp Core ejection Star Fleet Enginneering would be impressed!

    Mid-2010 iMac 27 GPU/Repair - AMD Failure!

Well it seems I’ve inherited a 27” Mid 2010 iMac with the infamous AMD 5xxx GPU which is failing and prevents anything like High Sierra or GPU demanding apps from running. Got the machine for free which is nice. So the big question is what GPU would be best with minimum headaches to...

Adding a system/cooling fan to iMac G3 DV

Just a quick update! Moment of madness or ADHD bliss but I’ve managed to get hold of a fan that fits well inside the iMac G3 (for free too). Yes, your eyes don’t fool you the whole lot is held in by clear cable ties, electrical tape and a prayer! Let’s say Steve Jobs wouldn’t approve of me...

    eMac capacitors

My eMac is part of the new capacitors needed club. It has some capacitors on the logic board that need some attention. At the moment it runs but it's only a matter of time before it gets too bad. My biggest issue is my soldering skills aren't the best so will likely have to buy the parts and...

Hidden treasure inside an old AirPort Extreme Base Station (A1034)

Shall have to look out for one of these cards/or older AirPort Base Stations - my PowerBook G3 (PDQ) wouldn't say no to a WiFi card!

Hidden treasure inside an old AirPort Extreme Base Station (A1034)

It was a nice surprise to see a standard AirPort card inside! Least Apple used a good card even in their older AirPort Base Stations! Shall have to keep an eye out for other AirPort Extremes of this vintage or older as I've got a few other Macs that wouldn't say no to an AirPort card or similar!

Hidden treasure inside an old AirPort Extreme Base Station (A1034)

Just opened up an old AirPort Extreme Base Station (A1034) just to see what it had inside. Upon a little digging I found it literally houses a standard AirPort Extreme Card and is powered by an AMD CPU/SoC! Got curious about if the AirPort Card would work in a standard Mac and it does! So my...

Laptop battery rebuilding in the UK/ideas?

Hi all, I’ve got a Dell Latitude X300 laptop which is a lovely ultra-portable Windows 2000/XP box but sadly the battery has given up holding a charge. It’s detected by the PC but won’t ever gain a charge. Unplugging the AC resorts in sudden death. So I’m wondering if anyone based in the UK is...

    ENDED *Christmas Photo Contest!*

Some of my Macs wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! (Note: the 2019 5K iMac and the 1998 PowerBook G3 PDQ are - the eMac decided that it didn't like my AIO Keyboard/Trackpad and locked up!)
