Did you previously use the programmer with a Windows box and the official software? Might need to go back to that to reflash it. I've never run into the problem you have unfortunately.

Update I have had success with home-brew and using my Macs now. forgot to update here. I did try to use GUMP as a GUI with the pair and it seems to work okay with reading or verifying chips but when programming I've had a lot of cases with it locking up or crashing, so Ive just stuck with command line for now and have had no issues. home-brew and mini pro on the command line is great.

When you are too lazy to mess with the terminal window, you can install Windows 7 on a UTM virtual machine and pass the USB.
It works fast even on AppleSilicon-based Mac.

At first I tried to use Windows 10/11, but the performance was terrible, even if you allocate 12 cores.
