Good evening, I am definitely new at this and I have a question. Ive been toying with idea of upgrading / restoring a classic Mac for months now. Today I was watching a video and I couldn't help but wonder: "Would it be possible to upgrade the screen on a powerbook to something a bit more modern, like an IPS display?" I do understand that the technologies are a bit different, and finding the appropriate panel may prove to be challenging -- but thats part of the fun, right? Has anyone attempted anything like this with any of the classic Mac laptops? Thanks!

Lombards use a standard LVDS interface for the display. I used a screen with the same dimensions out of a random Compaq laptop to replace a broken one. I don't recall any issues with the CFL backlight inverter plug either. You may be hard pressed to find a 4:3 IPS display of the same size/resolution though.
