Hi all,

When I got my Pioneer MPC-GX1 (video here), I noticed the system needed to stay plugged in for a bit before powering on. Well, sadly today I went to plug mine in and it wasn't happy. So I ripped open the power supply and drew a quick map of the capacitors on the PSU and audio amplifier board. I also took some photos, hopefully this'll be helpful to anyone who has one of these clones!

Attached is a two-page PDF of this capacitor map and a bunch of photos of the PSU and audio amp. board.

Well, I went ahead and ordered about $50 worth of capacitors to see if I can recap the power supply. I went ahead and ordered caps for the audio board in case it needs it too. Below is a diagram (PDF) I made to replace my sketch above (which had a few empty values).

Once I confirm the ordered caps work and fit, I'll post my Mouser car and list of caps used. (y)

Attached is a PDF, embedded is a JPEG of v1.0 of this diagram.

Success!

For those who didn't watch the live stream... spoiler alert - a nearly full recap worked and the system now powers on. 🎉🥳🎉

The only caps I didn't replace were the two big input caps on the main board (250v 470uf) as they measured and appeared fine. I'll do a further diagnosis of all the old caps, as I'm curious which ones may have failed and caused the issue.

Here's a Mouser.com cart of the caps you need for the power supply:
https://www.mouser.com/en/Tools/SavedCart/Share?AccessID=2143f27561

Notes: This cart includes two 250v 470uf caps that I didn't end up using since my existing ones measured good. Also, some components have a long delay and limited quantities, so others may need to be swapped out. This information is provided AS-IS, I'm not responsible if you order these or other parts and they don't work, etc.

I'll be sharing a full cart (that includes the audio amp board, etc) after I complete those projects.

Here's a short video of it powering on, the speaker system in this unit is really wonderful!
