Could a SE/30 Stereo Speaker Mod Be Possible?

Yes. The speaker jack has 5 lines: Ground, Right (In), Left (In), Right (Out) and Left (Out). So the jack is also similar to a switch. No plug? Signal passes from the inputs to the outputs. Plug inserted? The outputs are disconnected/floating and the plug receives the signal. Basically, by...

Could a SE/30 Stereo Speaker Mod Be Possible?

I'd start by looking at the schematics so you can work back from the jack and see where it gets the signals and pick a spot to pull the signal from. That said, I still think you probably want to pull from the stereo jack or very close to it. The catch is that the circuit appears to be setup to...

    Ineverse of RAMDAC - Analog 512x384 timings -> translation -> SE/30 A/B input?

CRTs that have aged produce noticeable flicker to me at 60Hz already. I wouldn't want to try to use one at 30-40Hz at all. I once tried a Plasma TV that had to drop to 48Hz to get correct film cadence, and... just no. Some people might be able to get away with not noticing it, but I think this...

    Refreshing a Quadra 605 + Bonus Quadra 650

Not sure what it was listed for when you saw it, but compared to the other Q650s I’ve seen in the last ~6mo, it was downright reasonable (even ignoring shipping), and in better shape than most to boot. That IIvx they had when I dropped in on the other hand… I’m not sure I’d want to add a CD...

    Refreshing a Quadra 605 + Bonus Quadra 650

Since I'm kicking everything through an upscaler to an OLED, not much point in doing dual monitors in my case. Sure, it's not as authentic, but it's a lot easier on my eyes. Helps that the upscaler can be configured with optimized timings for the different Mac display modes of the era.

    Refreshing a Quadra 605 + Bonus Quadra 650

Just to clear what seems to be confusion, I have both a Quadra 605 and 650 now, so discussion on what to use the expansion slots for was aimed at the latter. I should probably update the title maybe. :) For the 605, I've got a IIe card that isn't going anywhere (except maybe removed briefly to...

    Refreshing a Quadra 605 + Bonus Quadra 650

That is a thought for sure. With the spare PCI Orange Micro cards I have, maybe could trade for one in decent shape. EDIT: I ran across your thread where you were getting this card working in a 700 while looking deeper into this. Don’t see why it wouldn’t work in the 650/800 as well. That’s...

    Refreshing a Quadra 605 + Bonus Quadra 650

May as well put this here as well, but I found the other Quadra I’ve been hoping to get a hold of.. a 650. Owner took good care of this one, so just a bit of yellowing on the case and some dirt to clean. Only 12MB of RAM, but that can be upgraded. Somehow the Quantum drive still works too. Not...

Can anyone help evaluate these CPU upgrades?

Probably this then? https://everymac.com/upgrade_cards/sonnettech/crescendo_g3_l2/crescendo_g3_l2_400.html To my knowledge Power Computing never made upgrade cards, just clones. The 210 and 180 would have been 603e/604e CPUs meant for their systems and probably removed and sold when the...

Can anyone help evaluate these CPU upgrades?

Oh man, been a while since I’ve seen a joeCARD. It looks like most of these are for the OldWorld PPC Macs that came with CPUs on the daughterboard (pre-G3 era). Others look like CPUs that would have come with a system. So you’d probably need someone with access to a couple different systems to...

Molex to Sata lose all your data

I would generally agree here, except Crucial seemed fit to issue a warning and say that warranties wouldn’t be honored in the case of a melted adapter. Does make me wonder what their support staff saw that made the company deem it worthy of the effort to write up a support article on it. That...

Comparing stock fan vs. Noctua in an SE/30 with temperature data

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but this test looks to be more affected by static pressure than airflow? You're creating resistance that the airflow has to overcome (the paper blocking the outlet), which is important if you are pushing air through tight spaces like a modern radiator in a liquid...

Fan Controller in System Saver IIGS?

This only matters if you are adding a switch. If you are re-using the controller as-is, then any switching/control that's built in should be to code already. It's easier to think of AC as unpolarized (in the voltage sense). The voltage polarity is switching 50-60 times a second, so any device...

Comparing stock fan vs. Noctua in an SE/30 with temperature data

I'm curious about the CFM ratings just to see how much of this is spec vs age, if possible. With the Quadra 605 I received, the Noctua was slightly better in terms of rated CFM, and your data seems to suggest that the CFM of the OEM fans here are similar to the CFM of the OEM fan for the...

Fan Controller in System Saver IIGS?

This is good information. One thing I'd add is that I think I'd mostly just want to make sure that if you are inserting a switch somewhere, that you switch hot not neutral. The circuit works if you switch neutral, but as KennyPowers mentions, having more things energized is more of a shock hazard.

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

Yes. At least with how the extension is currently written. That said, rebooting System 7 is quick enough with a BlueSCSI or similar that I only disable 32-bit addressing when I want to use the IIe card.

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

I've had a BlueSCSI drive image corrupt itself in a Quadra 605, but it was overclocked at the time, which meant the SCSI chip was operating out of spec. IS your's on the stock clock speed?

    Cleaning up Family Apple "Collection"

That’s… unusual. Back when an 8600 was my primary machine, I had a 450Mhz G4 card (the joeCard I mention above) in there for a couple years. Even ran OS X on the thing. Nothing like what you mention here, and the 8600 has less internal volume for air circulation. The 7300 even less than the...

    Cleaning up Family Apple "Collection"

While we only had a 450Mhz G4 joeCard instead of the Sonnet, we never noticed an increased demand for cooling with the 7300. But we weren’t pushing things as hard as ClassicHasClass is here. Keep in mind the PSU in this thing is rated for 175W (EDIT: 150W), I believe. That’s your upper limit on...

    Cleaning up Family Apple "Collection"

With the 7300 recovered as much as I'm going to get, started looking at the first batch of peripherals and software. A lot of SCSI things mostly. A good chunk of this will be going into trade pile. Hardware APS 128MB MO (Epson OMD-5010 Mechanism) APS 1.2GB HDD (Quantum - DOA, Enclosure Works)...
