Time for an Athlon-XP Build - Project Middlesex (Now with pretty pictures!)

Ah yes, I should be more specific - the capacitors that are part of the output of the 6-phase power distribution to the CPU :)

Yes, thats the exact one - both sides hinged, so you could mount the motherboard on a swivel down tray - it was a really nice design.

Time for an Athlon-XP Build - Project Middlesex (Now with pretty pictures!)

After having a look at the board, this is definitely not in bad shape, it's clean, not a spot of dust and looks to have seen very little usage. However, as it's 20 years old, the caps WILL need to be replaced. The caps on the board currently are Rubycon caps which are...meh, i guess? At least...

Time for an Athlon-XP Build - Project Middlesex (Now with pretty pictures!)

Almost 20 years ago (jesus, that hurts to say now), I was nearly ready to begin my computing course at Middlesex University in North London. Disappointment of the course and ineptitude of the University aside, I had put together a damn good rig to handle almost everything that you could throw...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Apologies for the late reply - real life has been getting in the way lately - weddings to attend etc - my free time is non-existant at the moment. For the PLCC extractor - nothing i have worked properly for the 84-pin packages - i resorted to using a dental pick instead, slowly levering each...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

The SWIM isn't a surprise - as internally the SWIM includes the new chip AND the old chip - there's just a crossbar switch to select the relevant one when needed. IWM exists inside the SWIM at all times.

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Either board would be just fine - no real difference that I can spot, might be a simple change in routing or something - I can't spot anything obvious. Nevertheless, all the parts you need are there. Would it not be better to use a dead board, instead of taking a functional one and transplanting?

@max1zzz might be best placed to do that as he did the Plus Reloaded.

    Drying analog board after cleaning

I've been naughty and used my household oven set at 60 degrees Celsius, just put the boards on a silicone baking sheet and leave them in for 30 mins.

    Motherboard Capacitors

Welcome! Yes, possible to replace, just measure the diameter and height of each one to make sure you order the right ones. Then you just need the quantity and rating of each. I'd be happy to help make up a mouser or digikey basket for you.
