This is a great idea actually. This is likely a little over-cautious. Unless you have software you specifically want to run that's incompatible, you may as well just leave 32-bit mode enabled - and disable as necessary.

24-bit dirty software will crash if set to 32-bit mode, regardless of which OS you have booted. One example is Shufflepuck Café.
