MAC SE PSU Sony CR-44M Question

I'm not sure what to say about the Ground and the 20V reading. As was the case with the oddball 7v measurement, it's clear there's something going on that needs to be figured out, either in terms of proper measuring (probes, contact the probes are making, or the meter itself and/or its battery)...

MAC SE PSU Sony CR-44M Question

Normal for a no-load test. If you twist the blue POT to max, they probably will go slightly higher. My measurement of 5.49v with the blue POT maxed out is given in my spreadsheet linked earlier. But through it all, I’ve never measured a no-load voltage as high as 7v on the PSU’s 5V output rail...

MAC SE PSU Sony CR-44M Question

I actually wish the POT in my SONY maxed out at 7V so I could pull it down to where the voltage at the motherboard would be 5.05v or there about. My max "no load" voltage, as set via the blue POT, is 5.49v, and you can see that on my spreadsheet here (created when I did the Baby Face PSU review...

ITXPlus: A ITX Sized Macintosh Plus Logicboard Reproduction

Looking forward to seeing the board in a case with monitor. That should be very interesting!

BlueSCSI and Mixing SCSI Drivers Question

I absolutely sympathize and love your telling it like it is, because I often feel the same and say the same. I really want people to take me by the hand and guide me every single step of the way. And that's really what got me into YouTube, because so few videos out there do that. So I try to do...

Recapped SE/30 - Occasional Horizontal Screen Shake

There's no harm in buying the BU406G replacement from Mouser and doing the swap. Probably best to order other things like capacitors, etc. to make the cost of shipping more worthwhile. I may buy one of those parts too because I have an analog board that causes screen issues, and until now, I...

    Just destroyed my SE/30

If the metal can types are fluid-filled electrolytic types and not aluminum polymer types, I say you should pass on those because those will need to be recapped again 20+ years hence. These days, I use OS CON caps because they have very low ESR, yet look stock. They'll be destroyed if you...

    SPIISD V2 has been released

I now have first-hand soldering experience with the SPIISDv2 kit, and I can attest to the fact that anyone can do it. Match it up with a 3D-printed case, and it looks pretty slick...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

Not at different frequencies, no. I just confirmed at my primary Spicy clock speed that all was well with voltages. But if any voltage measurements are done by anyone, it's important to use a scope (not a handheld DMM meter) and test while idle and while the CPU is being loaded by Norton...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

@Kai Robinson The response by callan brown is an important consideration. If you go back to his earlier posts in this thread, you'll see he had an issue with his MacEffects board (no fault of MacEffects, of course), and that brings up the topic of INVENTORY and BOARD REVISIONS. While it could...

Logic Board - Macintosh SE Reloaded

Two Idiots. Not surprised by that, but it's very disappointing! I am perhaps @MacEffects biggest fan, not only for their insanely great store offerings, but also because Mark J. is an honest, friendly, and just the nicest person you'll ever know in your life. Even so, this will restrict...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

Believe me, I tried every size the game offers, down the to teensiest tiniest size you can hardly even see. FPS is a no-go on my machine. I am desperate to know why.

How to get an Apple IIC online

Since this thread is asking how to get an Apple II "online" I should mention that Petar has a video showing how he uses the FujiNet device and TELNET to connect to a BBS at the 30:50 timestamp in his video below: And of course, you can watch the full video for additional details about the device.

    VCF East 2025 - Who's Coming?

I'll be there in spirit! :-) Honestly, I wish there was a high tech way to attend these without actually being there. I've given up on teleportation becoming reality, but perhaps something more down-to-earth-in-2025, like renting a robot (Optimus?) for the show that could be controlled...

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

I made the video announcement on FaceBook as well, and one gentleman posted his video in reply: He posted that to tell me that even though we both downloaded Doom II from Macintosh Garden, he gets FPS info in the upper left corner of the game. Also, while it's VERY hard to see due to his...

    Macintosh SE SuperMac SpeedCard accelerator

Great! Feel free to mention that trick in your public thread, as that info will surely help other people who no doubt will have the same problem. I think it's a bug in System Info pertaining to the lack of sufficient RAM to load all the results files, but that's pure speculation on my part.

    Macintosh SE SuperMac SpeedCard accelerator

Remove all Results files from the folder and try displaying results again. It will likely work. You can then start slowly adding them back and see how many your machine will allow. Maybe 10 or 15? The problem is the SE has issues when too many results files are in the results folder.
