Trying to figure out a thermal solution for the GeForce 3 in the Cube

What’s the problem with the GeForce 6200 and Mac OS 9? Alternately, a Radeon 7500 works well in a Cube, exists in a Mac version, and doesn’t run very hot (it is passively cooled).

Recreation of RFI shields for compact Macs - 128K, 512K, Plus, SE and SE/30

Shielding (computer) electronics seems to be something that was needed back in the eighties? (if you ever took apart an Atari ST, the motherboard is entirely enclosed in a rigid steel shield) Maybe computers back then were more sensitive to external interference, or it was the other way around...

Design68: A 65% replacement keyboard using AppleDesign controllers

It’s a really cool project, but I was wondering wether I needed to make it. Turns out I already have a compact ADB keyboard, that even include a trackpad: the one that comes with the TAM!

    ZIP drive not ejecting

Having taken one apart recently, there’s two springs for the eject mechanism: maybe they’re not that springy anymore? See step 6 in this iFixit guide. Maybe just taking apart the Zip drive for a good cleaning and lubricating will fix it? When it works well, a Zip drive ejects disks quite brutally!

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

I have this SATA SSD + adapter setup in my Cube: The SSD is a Crucial C300 64Gb and on the unbranded SATA to IDE adapter it says AS330, the lone big chip on the adapter board is a JMD330.

Better or Worse PATA to SATA Adapters? - TAM

I had my TAM lock up while reading from the CD-ROM drive when using a similar SD adapter. A CF card (+ passive adapter) being natively IDE is the more compatible solution.

Better or Worse PATA to SATA Adapters? - TAM

It’s the physical installation of whatever replacement drive you’re using that is somewhat bothersome, because nothing will line up with the mounting points on the drive bracket of the TAM. Double-sided tape to the rescue! It’s the easiest way to do it, I think.

    120GB SSDs in G4 Cube

Install the SSD in the Cube, on the IDE bus, and boot from a Tiger install disk, maybe this will work?

Better or Worse PATA to SATA Adapters? - TAM

Or use a CompactFlash Card, with a passive adapter. CF cards are natively IDE drives, so better compatibility and I think enough performance for the relatively low end computer that is the TAM.

    Vectrex

I thought you were wondering about the possibility of a green display in a compact Mac, and I remembered seeing it already done, so I posted the video. No matter how it’s done it’s the result that counts! And by the way, displaying a raster image or video on an oscilloscope is basically...

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

Maybe it’s just because the (too long?) ribbon câble of the SD extender is unshielded and thus picking up all sorts of interferences?

6500 db15 to vga adapter issues

That Radius cable could very well be proprietary for a Radius video card and its associated Radius monitor. So not at all wired correctly for Mac video to VGA. But that is a question for the specialists, I’m not well versed in the pre-PowerPC era of the Macintosh.

6500 db15 to vga adapter issues

This is the cable that I have: I don’t see any brand name or logo on it, but there’s a part number (387-822A): A closer look at the plugs:
