    BlueSCSI DB25 compatibility issues?

Yeah, this makes sense. There are a lot of tales 'to there' of good and bad cards. I would generally think (not necessarily correctly) that if a card works in the BlueSCSI in one system, it ought to in another - in other words, that it's the BlueSCSI that is good or bad with a card, not the host...

    BlueSCSI DB25 compatibility issues?

Yes, it worked perfectly on the 630 both with and without an internal drive - at least with and without the HD. The CD ROM was connected all the time. The G3 has an internal IDE, Zip and CD, I have not looked to see which of these are SCSI! I wasn't much concerned about the PowerBook related...

    BlueSCSI DB25 compatibility issues?

No, I haven't as yet. It worked with the system I needed it for specifically (the 630CD) so wasn't overly concerned. I presume from the troubleshooting guide that it can't see the card or the card isn't readable - though why the same card works in one system and not another is odd if that were...

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

Or, actually it might not - that would give me a Lombard-based 9.2.2 system on the CF card. Might be enough though!

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

Sadly, I don't have a newer Mac, but pulling the drive and hooking it up to something else is a great idea I hadn't even thought of. Which got me thinking that alternatively, I'm going to replace the HD anyway at some point, so I could drop the replacement into another system to get it set up...

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

No big deal - I'll find out in due course. It's made harder by the fact I can't get any files on or off the G3 at present, so no way to load drivers if it needs it, but there will be a way, if I play with it long enough. Incidentally, is there such a thing as a SCSI 'extender'? Something I can...

    BlueSCSI DB25 compatibility issues?

Ah, sorry I was not more precise - I meant the Tech by Androda site where I bought it. I'm not sure it was a standard model, but having taken the green 3D printed cover off, it seems to be an 'F4Lite.TbA.DB25M....' I couldn't read the last characters. I'll check out the GitHub link and read...

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

Maybe I'm confusing it with my Lombard. I plugged a USB card in the PC Card slot and it didn't recognize it at all in OS 9.1 - after downloading extensions from the Garden and dropping them in the system folder, it worked. I read somewhere that when Mac OS 9 installs, it only drops the drivers...

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

I've got a PCI USB card on the way - it claims to be Mac compatible. I will likely have no easy way to get the drivers onto the system though, since it has no floppy drive, a not really working CD, and though the Zip is good, I don't have a Zip drive for any other system. USB would be my data...

    PowerBook 5300C repair help :)

This is odd, I think. The green LED should not normally light, except to flash every second when the 5300 is in sleep. I don't think it has any other function on this system - normally. I may have misunderstood what you're describing, but it sounds like the Green Light of Death if it's coming...

    BlueSCSI DB25 compatibility issues?

I have a DB25 v1 - I don't know the exact product because it's no longer on the site to look it up, but it predates the v2. Anyway, it works perfectly with my Performa 630CD, including allowing me to install Mac OS 7.1 on a card in it that was created by Disk Jockey. The 630 has even been...

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

I can't remember how it was that I burned the CD-R which the G3 reads perfectly - it's an Office 98 installer, so I likely made it when setting up my G3 snowbook, so I may even have burned that on my 2016 iMac, using Toast 9 and a superdrive. I'll keep trying, but the idea to burn at lowest...

That's an interesting idea, and well worth a try!

    PowerMac G3/266

That's good to know - for some reason I'd forgotten the IDE restriction. Time to make a plan rather that just ad hoc fixes!

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

A secondary question.... I recently switched out a dead CD drive in my G4 iMac for a Pioneer burner. Is there a suitable drive I could get for the G3 which is compatible, allowing for Mac OS 9, and the mounts, etc.? I kind of assume that an early Pioneer model would maybe work since those seem...

Beige G3 not reading burned CDs

Thought I'd best move my troubleshooting to this area rather than Finds/Conquests - it's not feeling quite like a conquest at the moment! Aside from it missing the floppy drive entirely, I've been trying to perform a clean install of MacOS 9.2.2. I downloaded the iso from the Garden on a G4...

    PowerMac G3/266

This is absolutely great, thanks!!! Pretty sure I can find one of these drives, though I have no 3D printer or access to one to make the carrier. even so, that's a perfect place to start, so thanks again!

    PowerMac G3/266

I opened the G3 up, and found why it still has its HD... the recycler removed the floppy drive instead, presumably thinking it was the hard drive, maybe not having much time to delve down any further. It does create a bit of a problem because I actually do need a floppy, but otherwise even...

    [AmigaOfRochester] Customer Feedback

I sent three boards: a Classic LB, and Classic II analog and LB for repair last year after both systems failed to boot with a variety of symptoms. The boards came back in days, and the two systems have been in fine working condition since. Highly recommended for excellent service, high quality...

    PowerMac G3/266

I hadn't factored in the question of PPC-native code, so that's a very timely reminder, and means you're certainly right that 8.1 wouldn't be a good option, despite it being what it came with. And after thinking about it, you're right that it may be better to move it up from 9.0 to 9.1 even if...
