I have a MacClip Jr in my own 800 and it works well, though I just run it at 38MHz. This works fine in A/UX and also allows me to install and remove the Power Mac 601 card "freely" (as free as you can with that damn case) without having to mess with the clip.

This is a bit of an oversimplification, but an easy discriminator is QFPs have pins on the sides and PGAs have pins underneath. The good news is you can't easily harm them by accidentally putting one in the wrong socket; even if they fit they won't make any connections.

Yes, all true, but specifically for the Mac that was in the days of the Atari ST (the "Jackintosh" as they called it). Tramiel, much less Bob Yannes, never compared the Mac's sound (or speech output, for that matter) to the 64's. I'm not sure if he would have if he'd been at Commodore longer...
