Let's say you have an AAUI accessory (e.g. a 10BASE-T transceiver/MAU) that you want to plug into a regular AUI port. Is it possible?
Wikipedia says yes. But last night I proved it to myself:
Still works with AAUI even while being hacked up this way. This specific adaptation is handy because Farallon EtherMac MAUs are easy to find at the moment while regular AUI<->10BT MAUs are (shockingly) rare and often at a price point that I don't like. But stripping a whole bunch of teeny tiny wires is a drag...
If there's a way to get some AAUI socket receptacles (like what you find on the back of a Mac) then it would be possible to make a much more elegant adapter and leave the EtherMac unmodified. Does anyone know if there's a way to get your hands on such things?
