Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

@alxlab Just did another stream of semi-consciousness brain dump in the SE Borked tangent post. Testing the efficiency of your ductwork designs against Apple's kluge may be in the cards? Would a modification of your baseline bracket design converting it to the SE's A/B mounting points be...

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

@max1zzz You haven't answered my question: is your utility reporting RAM installed in each bank specifically or are you going from system totals? Which utility are you using? Need to see the schematic the adapter you're using I think?

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

Read again? Thought what I said was that BBS and Forums were far superior to newsgroups for cooperative ventures, blogging is a step backward into the wilds from BBS and Forums. Usenet rocked. Great point about linking to a blogged summary, well organized and concise from an invariably messy...

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

Am I the only one left from olden times when documenting projects with Q&A developments in forum threads was a big deal and the way to go for stuff like this? Blogging was great back then for self absorbed drones to disappear out on the fringes of the web where we could ignore them. Not all...

Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

Yeah, but it's OT here and probably deserves a dedicated discussion in hardware. That's most especially true of the A/B reloaded/upgraded notion I think. That'll likely branch off into its own topic as well if I can I get it going. ;)

Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/macintosh-se-or-se-30-fan-bracket.976/post-11398 THX! That'll clean up this topic nicely. Proposed title bolded/italicized

Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

@Kai Robinson @max1zzz I see you're online, could one of you please move my entire Cross Flow Fan: SE cooling inplemented right and then borked? tangent to a dedicated hardware thread?

Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

Much more useful information would sampled by attaching that probe to the closed, front side of the flyback heat shield/radiator cage. @alxlab could use that config to test the OEM fan cage part to his two improved versions. That should prove quite interesting. edit: easy title search at MLA...

Check the pics that'll be added to keep them all aligned in that one post. Mine has a horizontal neck board.

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

Fabuous work! Can't wait to see results. Still wondering why they'd block Bank A when over expansion in SIMM Bank B would be the more obvious problem to be addresse, just as in case of LC. /Occams Razor

Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

None of the brilliant, outside the boxers at Apple could get that through one particularly thick skull with blinders attached. Hyperfocus on design to the detriment of function is a major failing in a project director. Reality distortion is a multidimensional field, deleterious thought well...

Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

Not all that uncommon for the Plus' vents to melt above the flyback. I think SE cooling was probably fine until the went to the muffin fan to reduce noise. The original Cross Flow Fan was more efficient. That's what you'll find in all kinds of things, Laser Printers, copiers and the like. It is...

    Not only vintage Computers

@Volvo242GT the only part of that car that should be black is that white hood! Just spray it matte black to put it out of its misplaced misery. :p

Upgrading IIsi onboard RAM to 4MB

Have you tried a different set of SIMMs yet? The answer to most problems with the IIsi would be a Video Card, just don't plug anything into the Vampire Video's DA-15 fangs. Output from it is crap to begin with and for that it screws up memory.

TinkerTips - Tools of the Trades, Arts, Hardware and . . .

Finally finished . . . almost, gotta drill holes in the worktop so it'll hang from pins on the backside underneath that last piece pictured above. No hurry there, don't expect to roll everything out of the second bedroom for new carpet installation for a week or three. Worktop sits on 1x2...

Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket

Cooling the flyback is probably the most important thing in Compacts. Note that they're always near the cooling vents/fan. PSU components would likely be next. CPU is waaaay down the list compared to the bumple thingies on the A/B I'd think. Some hot ones on the Plus and +Minus A/B boards are...

    Kitchen demo & remodel

Customized storage shelves in that space for what's now there and more would balance things out nicely. ;) In our 50's Cold War era Apartment Building/Co-op there was nothing above its fabulous gas range . . . edit: design detail of above; the shelves are built into the wall that...

Nice! When you get the smaller pulls buy an extra one and two of the long ones. Take the false front off the sink base and staple the bags to the back of it.*** That way you can reach up benind, identify by feel and pull the spare out of the bag. By the time you'll need one, sure as shootin'...

    The Mega Shed

New England winter thing that looks like an olde schoole salt container. Modern designs have an overhang above the tall, glazed side of the house to block the summer's high sun to keep things cool and let the low winter sun's light wash in when heating is needed. Rigid foam stands up to earth...
