Ram 30-pin SIMM socket where to buy?

Sadly, I have no 3D printer, and when I last tried to print those RAM CLIPS at JLC, they refused saying their tiny size was too small for them to print! But the concept is great. Ultimately, what I did was pay Kay Koba in the past (prior to my buying a Hakko FR-301 Desoldering Gun) to swap out...

Ram 30-pin SIMM socket where to buy?

I will tag @YMK and @Willj so they can comment about availability of their respective Synchr030/S and SIPP RAM products.

Can se/30 flyback be replaced by a 157-026C flyback?

Ah... The two nuts on bottom... Well, I've done that sort of removal before, mainly because the brass rod had broken, making it easy to remove after removing the nuts, which you can see below... Another few photos showing the broken brass rod... But I never torn that flyback apart...

Can se/30 flyback be replaced by a 157-026C flyback?

Wow. How, specifically, did you "dismantle" the flyback, and did you shoot photos of that?

Ram 30-pin SIMM socket where to buy?

Why is it at times like this I always think of @MacEffects coming to the rescue with a fabulous recreation! :) Well, until that day comes, we have to choose other options. I cannot say of the "alternatives" you link work. Where do they even source them? That's the big question. Even $10...

400 K Floppy Drive Repair Components

The reason I had two different Carts before is because one version of the Small PCB had space for physically larger capacitors, which also have better specs. So I took advantage of that by creating a special Cart for that version which had wider and better caps. But those caps are out of stock...

400 K Floppy Drive Repair Components

Capacitors for the LARGE PCB are the same across all 400K drive types. Only the SMALL PCB have differences. Your photo of the SMALL PCB matches my photo here... That is a good thing because I am worried about the other version SMALL PCB where you must put one of the capacitors on the left...

The great LCD in a Color Classic thread. Well, I wish...

@Piszigri I spotted your post in that other forum today... It will be interesting to see how your excellent kit develops once it becomes impossible for anyone to source that particular LCD anymore. For now, I've been looking for more photos of how the GVision display looks in its native...

    3D Printing & MacEffects Appreciation

I have printed DeskSaver feet in PA12-HP MJF at JLC (shown in gray below), and compared to SLS Nylon (shown in black below), the PA12-HP MJF is smoother to the touch. Reasonably flexible too, so it will be interesting to see what happens when I print the walled HDD bracket in that. But I...

Now that I've added the new SPIISD case from @Branchus and have added my $10 Discount Coupon, I'm ready to pull the trigger on my JLC order. 🥳

@jmacz Your work is absolutely magnificent! No errors at all when uploading your STL files to JLC3DP. Below are some JLC prices based on different filament types. Clear is obvious for the MacEffects case, but please let me know your thoughts and "recommendations" for a good filament type...

    3D Printing & MacEffects Appreciation

Confirmed my MacSD mounting holes (and PCB holes) align with a standard 3.5" HDD: (HDD in photo above is a Conner removed from my Macintosh Portable) And here's how MacSD looks in the stock metal bracket...

    3D Printing & MacEffects Appreciation

Wow! You did some incredible work there, @jmacz ! Outstanding! 👏 After arriving back home, I searched and searched, but not a single MacSD to be found! However, I searched the MacSD website and found this page with STL files. https://macsd.com/files.php I downloaded the "Standard Mounting...

    3D Printing & MacEffects Appreciation

Thank you very much for the follow-up. I’m outside the home for a few hours right now, but when I return home I will search for another MacSD to see if I can give you an answer. Most of my Mac’s are at the office, and I may have taken the spare MacSD units there too. I will tag @YMK in case he...

400 K Floppy Drive Repair Components

I believe strongly in helping out my fellow vintage Mac enthusiasts as much as humanly possible, in large part because I have the “do to others as you would have them do to you“ philosophy. I myself have a lot of help through the years, so when I have the ability to help someone else, I want to...

Tecmar Mac Drive (10 MB) A serial hard drive?! (The first Macintosh external hard drive)

Model number is SyQuest SQ100, so you should check EBAY regularly for that. In the past, I was able to find rare things through persistence, although I've not done that for a number of years now. Even so, I did search Craig's Lists too, as I have family in California which helped me out with...

    Color Classic VGA Woes

Yes. Desolder the flyback. Remove it. Examine it. Put it back. Resolver it. Test. If the flyback is bad, you're dead in the water without a replacement because the LC575 A.B. Flyback cannot be used. @Kay K.M.Mods confirmed that in the past. Now if pushing on the analog board creates...

400 K Floppy Drive Repair Components

Professor Lund, I've spent a number of hours on this, both yesterday and today. This issue has become really complicated due to Mouser having killed off the right caps, so this post is long and messy as a result. Just to correct and clarify your opening post, the Big PCB on the 400K drive...

    Color Classic Troubles

Congrats! (y) You can see all the hot areas of the Analog Board and some temps from one of those resistors here: But honestly, even at 105°C, those resistors are not super hot. The 3W and 5W resistors are made to get hot. They can get upwards of 200°C actually, in accordance with their...

@alxlab Thank you so much for that link! Uniserver was a significant contributor of helpful info pertaining to our hobby in the past, so I’m pleased to see it was he who provided that crystal clear answer. I’ve actually tried to contact him through the years, but he sadly has become...
