    Synchr030/S 256MB SDRAM Accelerator for the SE/30

@MeTheMac While we await word back from @YMK or @zigzagjoe , I would just like to let others reading our dialog know that the "30Video HS" info is found here: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/fs-se-30-color-lcd-kits-16-bit-30video-hc.48970/ I also see a similar question asked on that...

    MARCHintosh 2025 Projects

I don't know what falls under Eric's definition of "Projects" for MARCHintosh, or if this thread is open to talk about "what fabulous things we're doing this month to celebrate it" (as opposed to this thread being strictly focused on major engineering development projects), but I would like to...

    Synchr030/S 256MB SDRAM Accelerator for the SE/30

BTW, if anyone would like to have the startup screen I made for my video (shown on the SE/30's CRT), you can download Photoshop, PICT and "StartupScreen" formats in the attached Stuffit 1.5 archive.

Ram 30-pin SIMM socket where to buy?

Thank you very much for the feedback, Colin. That's useful info. I believe they are indeed New Old Stock (NOS) because when I bought some from RS Components 2 years ago and had Kay Koba do a pro-quality socket swap for me, when I got the board back and installed SIMMs, I ended up snapping one...

Ram 30-pin SIMM socket where to buy?

Found your previous link on Internet Archive, which shows they cost $5.22 back in Dec. 2023... https://web.archive.org/web/20231211032002/https://www.peconnectors.com/sockets-pga-cpu-and-memory/hws5040/ Yikes! Even $5 each is quite high, but the current pricing is out of this world.

Ram 30-pin SIMM socket where to buy?

@This Does Not Compute I checked today and found the price of those 30-pin SIMM sockets to be $9.60 each! Do you remember how expensive were they when you put your spreadsheet together a year ago?

Quicktime on an upgraded Mac SE

According to what I am seeing on Macintosh Garden here, early versions of QT work under System 6.0.7. Have you tried installing QuickTime and also 32-bit QuickDraw to a System 6.0.7 System Folder? For example, in my S6.0.8 System Folder, that icon looks like this:

So you have not tested any version of QT other than v1.6, correct?

Quicktime on an upgraded Mac SE

David, very true! I thought that might be the limiting factor, as mentioned in this article about QT 1.0... https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/technotes/tn2140/tn2140_QuickTimeDevelop7Article.pdf However, that same article goes on to say this: "...a later version will add QuickTime...

Quicktime on an upgraded Mac SE

Likely due to lack of RAM because even version 1.0 required 4MB. With or without the PerformerSE, you're capped to 4MB.

    FujiNet Apple II/FujiApple

Thank you for those details. And please know that I don't mean to hijack your thread. I am posting here to gain more knowledge about FujiNet, especially from folks like yourself who use it and love it. The main reason I mention the lack of an LCD on FujiNet is because @Kay K.M.Mods had released...

    FujiNet Apple II/FujiApple

I don't own a Fujinet, but it seems to have some overlap with the FloppyEMU and SmartPort devices. However, I've never seen a Fujinet with an LCD screen on it, so I wonder if it is as easy to use as a FloppyEMU. I have two FloppyEMUs, and the LCD really aids in the device's usability.

Floppy drive Sony MP-F51W-23 upper head doesn't touch the disk

Perhaps someone who has done the SE/30 Reloaded build (having tested their board before it was finished) could possibly answer that question, such as @Bolle or @This Does Not Compute or @Willj .

Floppy drive Sony MP-F51W-23 upper head doesn't touch the disk

UJ11 is the SWIM chip which controls your floppy drives... That's interesting because earlier in this thread you spoke about smelling something bad when you connected your floppy drive. So everything seems to make more sense now. But the question is, was the floppy drive shorting something...

Comparing stock fan vs. Noctua in an SE/30 with temperature data

My biggest issue with Noctua isn't the color, although I agree that tan isn't a very brilliant color choice. That's because it's not that easy to spot the tan color inside an SE/30 unless you are constantly gawking at it from the back. No, my biggest issue is PRICE, in large part because they...

Comparing stock fan vs. Noctua in an SE/30 with temperature data

Well, in terms of what I said in my previous post about the possibility of some air shooting out the sides instead of all the air going straight out back, I suppose "static pressure" is indeed at work too. But regardless of "static pressure," if you look at my photo, the angle at which those...
