    Synchr030/S 256MB SDRAM Accelerator for the SE/30

It really is an incredible design. If you read through the opening post again, you will see it is an 8-layer PCB! It was then made in a very lovely matte black, with gold ENIG plating. The amount of time invested in engineering that card by a single person must have been substantial.

    Should I install 64MB or 65MB in my SE/30?

Yes, so not only is the PCB thick from the get-go, and not only does it include two sets of ROM clips (for the 2 ROM socket types that lack metal tabs), you also get little stickers too, just in case the already-thick PCB isn't quite thick enough. Fantastic solution overall!

    Victory! IIc working again

Congrats! I'm in the same boat with a non-functioning RCA/Composite output (the stock plug) on my Apple IIc, but Plamen's IIc-to-VGA adapter which I have basically does what you did. It taps the Composite output from the 15-pin connector, which interestingly enough works perfectly!

    Should I install 64MB or 65MB in my SE/30?

When I made my ROM SIMM video in Sept.2023, only the GW4402A SIMM was out, but @Zane Kaminski revised it and that is what we know as the "B" edition. It's an incredible SIMM, and I want to do a video about that SIMM alone. Right now though, I'm waiting for an answer from Zane about how to...

    Should I install 64MB or 65MB in my SE/30?

Black is the RAM used right now. White is the RAM that still can be used. Black + White together is the total RAM allocated to the Finder, System, etc. And don't forget that you can change the RAM allocation for apps merely by selecting the app, then open the Get Info box (screenshot below...

    Should I install 64MB or 65MB in my SE/30?

System 6 requires 24-bit addressing, so anything beyond 8MB isn't free memory that apps can take advantage of, although extra RAM can be used as a RAM disk with third party software. In System 7.1 and 7.5.3/7.5.5, if you have 32-bit addressing OFF, it's basically the same situation as if you...

    Should I install 64MB or 65MB in my SE/30?

But in addition to 4pcs of 16MB SIMMs in Bank B, you also have 4 SIMMs in Bank A, correct? You always need to have something in Bank A when filling Bank B.

Macintosh Portrait Display Repair - Smearing/Pulsing Image on Screen

If it measured 85°C with a fan, I would be very surprised! Probably measures in the 40's, but you would need a thermal camera or maybe a cheap IR thermal meter to check it more accurately. Thermal cameras are neat because you can point them at the whole circuit board and see how hot certain...

Macintosh IIsi, Recapped, quite chime, no display.

I don't own a IIsi, nor have I worked on one, so I can't tell you from personal experience what it might be. However, I think it would be helpful to others with IIsi experience if you could post clear, hi-rez photos of your motherboard. That might help others come along and identify problem...

Macintosh Portrait Display Repair - Smearing/Pulsing Image on Screen

One interesting thing I have found is that sometimes 85°C rated caps have lower ESR than 105°C. I've never quite figured out why, but it has often been the case when I swap out caps for old electronics. It then becomes a question of which is better. Longevity with higher ESR or lower ESR...

Massive (filthy) find in South Carolina

Thank you for the photos! What I deliberately wrote was based on seeing what most everyone else in this hobby perpetually sees (primarily Maxwell brand exploded batteries which take out many a machine), so my deliberately severe reply reflects the severity of the problem. I don’t think it can...

Massive (filthy) find in South Carolina

There's a special place in 🔥👹 stoked daily for Maxell battery engineers and their managers who approved such horrific battery designs. Those people should be ashamed in light of the collateral damaged they deliberately caused. I highly doubt TADIRAN battery engineers were especially brilliant...

Massive (filthy) find in South Carolina

Has anyone every had an exploded Made in Israel TADIRAN? Honestly, every time I come across them, they are intact. They were designed to survive. Maxell, in contrast, designed them to die. Their battery engineers did an excellent job at that. Not only do they die, they try to take whatever...

    Apple Lisa 1-2 Hybrid Bezel

I don't own a LISA, but if I did, I would absolutely want the original LISA badge. It is a LISA, after all, which is true even if it is a later model that can run MacWorks. The LISA badge is a big part of the charm, which was later lost when it was slowly transformed into a "larger Mac". I...

    Macintosh IIci Logicboard recreation

@max1zzz I realize your aim was merely to recreate the original motherboard 1:1, but I am curious about trace widths and the power able to be supplied to the NuBus slots. It seems that Apple specifies a "budget" of 6.0A max for all the NuBus slots combined, and 2.0A budgeted for each NuBus...
