    Thank you both for your answers. It's unfortunate there's no miracle cure for this but, yeah, these machines are getting really old. Looks like cherry-picking parts will have to be the way forward from now on. But hey - that motherboard is purring like it's brand new again. That's a consolation :)

    I love the 3400c with the LocalTalk bridge for this purpose. No USB out of the box but it does the rest.
