Bingo! Discord appears to be almost or even more ephemeral than texting: - First: mail correspondence was the thing, with letters from folks like the letters of correspondence here in the U.S. available for centuries alongside letters from the Renaissance and back to the "letters" to the...

Did anyone notice this detail on the rainbow X?

    MARCHintosh 2026 Projects

Wrapping up for today, I snagged pics from that expensive 1120 unit on the 'Bay, so got details I've not seen before: The hotswap bay in the left pic is new to me. The blank 5.25" bay cover bezel on the right I have. Pic clearly shows the gaps between and around the drive bezels. Definitely...

Comm Slot II 10/100 Ethernet Cards

That is a heck of a lot slower than a 10/100 PDS Card solution would be, no?

Thanks for the likes! Was thinking about this update and figured a custom, laser cut clear plexi cover might be in order. Once I've gotten everything in the drive bays set up just so, back painting one with a complimentary color will look a whole lot better than the OEM unit. It'll hide the...

Project is definitely heading beyond Marchintosh deadline and well into Summer of Mac territory. Dragged the 'Bay for drive rail tidbits, finding none but was completely blown away by high three and even four digit Netra-t listing prices! One PSU like mine (but for a bit newer model?)...

    "Shiny" smiley too! \Browncoat

Append Mac graphics representations to "smileys" menu and both become possible. Posting "fun smiley" responses would be even easier to scroll thru, eliminate "x others" identifying interested members and bring "buried" thread back up to p.1. a random mix of both in topics might work? Cheers!

Did anyone notice this detail on the rainbow X?

A fourth is apprently needed: Stretch the "Rainbow Block" side to side for registration error on that axis. Stretch the blue stripe down on the vertical axis for same. Stretch the green stripe down to touch the yellow stripe and stretch the top to a bit past where the leaf ends for same...

Many such posts over there amount to " I have nothing to add, but following with great interest" which isn't all that difficult to scroll thru. IMO such encouragement is a necessary (not so) evil. Appending a "like" to a development post may be nice, but any post at all brings a serious...

As one of the first flight of added moderators over there in the far distant past, I've seen several forums pop up due to limitations there and then die on the vine. For whatever its shortcomings, it has been around for 24 some years and likely pops up first in searches when new folks are...

    Managing your collections

"Holy crap!" \Achmed the Dead Terrorist Love this one: My coffee table is half inch clear Plexi atop 840AV-n-8500 cases. Or is that a bench? Love it! (y)

Finally got the backplane ports section of the 9500 donor case (shattered plasticitus syndrome) fit snugly into the slot I cut into the Netra's armor plate in the update above. Took a bit of doing. Shim on 1x4 scrap and liberal application of hot glue to jig and panel squared up the slightly...

    Performa 6360 added

My concern is at what level of the fan housing air is extracted from the PSU. If it's not at the bottom of the fan housing as I very vaguely recall, then it might be workable, but likely not. Methinks this is a good point to break this tangent out into a dedicated thread?

    Performa 6360 added

IIRC the fan config can't really be modified in terms of where it vents from the PSU, but I'm running on fumes ATM.

Yep, I took out the shelf space for tuner, but the fan is in the way for a full height card IIRC. A low profile card in the top slot worked for you? The bottom slot doesn't align with the backplane cutout when using the 6x00 PCI Riser if memory serves. Cable based PCI risers for 1U conversions...

    Performa 6360 added

That doesn't work out so well, took a look at it. But if I finally get around to learning to use current PCB layout tools or rope someone into designing the boards for me this TwinSlotPCI riser for 6360/5400/5500 and another just for TAM are eminently doable...

Back from the beach and dropped the grlf off at the airport. Took a day off to crash and went a bit nuts with the grinder and wet tile saw today. 🤪 Looking a bit better, but what crazy metal removal required. Remember, this friggin' tanks' rear armor plate is 14 Gauge/1.5mm thick! Hogged out...

    Xyber Xcaliber piggy back board

Never restore a 128K to its inglorious stock condition! Especially important to preserve it as is if it's not the first release board! The 128K was obsolescent at release when SJ was forced to use a 512K prototype to handle its intro/announcement! That RAM upgrade board installation would be...
