IIci boot issues - makes crackle then turns off

This really does sound like a power or power circuit problem. Check the components on page 1 of https://github.com/nickpunt/nubus-se30/blob/master/Schematics/bomarc/Macintosh%20IIci%20Schematic%20(bomarc).pdf - do they all look operational?

Presentation Design Software targeting Compact Macs

Very nice. I just have some Aldus Persuasion presentations from the Mac Portable era, though these were clearly done on a colour Mac. https://oldvcr.blogspot.com/2024/03/an-apple-district-managers-macintosh.html

    Half Life for PowerPC Macs

Neat! But I was really hoping the Logicware OS 9 version made it out somehow. I think that will now be lost after Burger Becky passed away. Can't really test this one until they add 10.4.11 support, though.

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

Fascinating. A second 2.26NT ROM in the wild, though the one I have from @dbinreno has production labeling.

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

The ADTpro cable should work. What did you set your Open Firmware variables to? Remember that port 2 is ttya, not port 1.

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

The Quantum image appears to be HFS+. It is named "dStore." It will mount, but it doesn't look like there's anything in it other than the Desktop Folder, so it would not have been bootable. It may not have been in use - possibly a pull from something else that they were planning to repurpose...

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

Much later ROM than I would have thought. It would be very interesting to see what's on those hard disks.

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

For comparison, this is my Shiner EVT 2: https://oldvcr.blogspot.com/2021/10/shiner-esb-apple-network-server.html The colour of this board looks slightly different, but that could be the camera.

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

Since you have an EVT (similar to mine), I suspect you may have the pre-production ROMs on those. There is no way to tell from the chips themselves without firing it up.

    Happy 50th Anniversary Apple

Oh, don't get me wrong: everything is possible if you add sufficient hardware. But on the stock Apple-1, it would indeed be difficult.

    Happy 50th Anniversary Apple

Difficult. The Apple-1 does not have addressable video memory, just two ports to get a key and print a character. It can't even backspace, and clearing the screen is actually done with a hardwired circuit. Additionally, because of the way the shift registers used to generate the screen are...

PowerMac 7100 and Linux (and NetBSD)

Just digging up old threads... The 9150, now recapped and refurbished, will not start MkLinux with the full 264MB of RAM. Previously I ran it with 136MB and it will work with 200MB, but not more. I reduced it back to 136MB for a new installation and now I've actually got it rigged to be able...

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

Excellent! I will send you a PM. There is a nice newly recapped logic board and 150MHz CPU card here ready to go in it.

    HTTP POST

That should work. I'm assuming you are writing to a specific, hardcoded file path with the PHP rather than taking the filename provided by the client, which I would strongly advise against. If this is a publicly accessible URL, you may wish to secure it somehow - which could be giving the URL...

    HTTP POST

POST says to the server, "I am sending this data, which I want you to use to change something, according to the resource I am sending it to." POST implies a change in state may be made on the server's side, so it is not necessarily safe to send the same POST data multiple times (i.e., it is not...

    HTTP POST

I think you want PUT and not POST, unless you have something on the other end (CGI, etc.) that is actually replacing the file.

Apple Network Server MacOS based ROMs found

Yay @trag! @johntucker found two versions, the pre-production ROM and the 2.0 ROM. It turns out I also have a pre-production ROM (it hashes the same as his), and I also have the 2.6 NT ROM thanks to @dbinreno . However, the 2.0 ROM is the one we're most interested in because that has drivers...

    6o6: virtualizing the 6502 on the 6502

6o6 is now updated to 1.1. This improves guest zero page performance, but also cleans up addressing modes and furnishes greater control over the interrupt flag. But wait, there's more! With the 50th anniversary of Apple coming up, why not add a new, gratuitous example: an Apple-1 emulator that...

Vintage Compact Macs in TV & Movies

Heck, Michael Keaton was Mr. Mom before he was Batman.
