Getting An Old MacBook Air & Installing Linux (Ubuntu? Mint?). Any Advice?

I love Cinnamon, but Xfce is just as awesome; super lightweight. If graphical horsepower isn't an issue, I will go KDE Plasma every time. I just love it! I did originally have Arch with KDE on this MacBook Pro and it ran it just fine, but when I moved from Mint to EndeavourOS I opted for Xfce...

Getting An Old MacBook Air & Installing Linux (Ubuntu? Mint?). Any Advice?

I love Mint! I think it's a great beginner distro, as well, for people who want to make a switch from Windows.

I don't have anything that can run this (yet!) but this is awesome to see!

Well, I did not get around to doing the thermal compound replacement yet, but I've been playing more games on it!

I actually just used up the last of the tiny tube of AS on redoing the compound in my IBM ThinkPad 770! At my old job, I built several conference room systems for a price that beat the Dell alternative, and *warranty* wasn't really an issue as I *was* the warranty. So I ordered up a bunch of...

Sweet! And yes, I know everyone has their own technique of applying compound and they're all wrong and all right :ROFLMAO: I've switched to using Noctua's NT-H1 paste for everything a few years back and it's been a solid performer.

Man, this hits hard, and I can't believe I was too busy working to even hear about this happening. I grew up watching Computer Chronicles and Net Cafe. I always watch LGR's year-end CC recap when he does them.

I'm thinking of redoing the thermal paste in the G3, but I don't have any fresh thermal pads on-hand. Would a quality thermal compound be sufficient?

    DOS on Mac

I have a few Pentium MMX chips kicking around, if I ever get my hands on a Quadra 950, I'd like to try this as well! Honestly not sure what I'd even use it for, but it would be a cool thing to have.

Last thing you did with your G5?

Jealous of y'all with G5s, but love seeing the continued usage! The G5 I used in high school is likely no more as it probably made its way to DRMO when they decided to get rid of it. On the hunt for my own now.

Hacking the Kodak Reels 8mm Film Digitizer (New Thread)

As someone who scans with a Canon R5 and a Minolta Macro 50/3.5 on Minolta bellows and just happens to have a Kodak Eight Model 25 that hasn't been used yet (by me personally), this is an awesome project! I develop color and B&W at home, so that's not a concern, I've just not gotten around to...

Awesome, thanks! I just might have some small fans kicking around somewhere. Currently browsing ebay for a 1 GB memory kit as well. I've got my son playing around with it running Kid Works 2, something I remember playing with as a kid in elementary school, so it's super awesome to get him into...

I would love to get some better cooling in the G3 and maybe push the envelope back to 700 MHz, but I'm also wondering if it makes more sense just to get a board with the 700 MHz chip on it already and go for 850/800. Getting rid of the HDD was a huge drop in heat output overall, but not enough...

EndeavourOS (Arch) on 2011 MacBook Pro

To start things off, this 2011 has been my daily driver since 2011 when I bought it to upgrade from the lower-end 2010 I purchased the year before. It had all the bells and whistles plus the early Retina display. The hard drive itself gave out about two years later, so I swapped in one of those...
