My SE has a pristine and problem-free "SE Reloaded" motherboard which currently has a Levco SuperMac Speedcard (16MHz 68000) installed in the PDS slot. I also have a stock SE motherboard. 4MB of RAM. I have the OLD ROMs & IWM chip. Don't have the new ROMs, unfortunately.

I'm afraid I am of no help here. I'm still not fully straight on the technical aspects of how vintage RAM refresh works. I only know the historical tidbits such as the SE being up to 15% faster than the older Mac Plus because the SE video circuits don't use as much processor time for RAM...

The really neat thing about the SpeedCard is the same for Zane's forthcoming accelerator — either can be disabled at cold boot, allowing you to use the SE with its stock 8MHz 68000 processor. The SE/30 is in many ways a better Mac than the SE, so most people with one of those may wonder why...

@Kai Robinson When I first powered on my board, I guess I was blessed or lucky because it bonged and worked fine on the first try. But I do know you had issues getting your board to work initially. Did you ever get the symptoms @iPhil64 is describing — no bong and hissing from the speaker?

Much better than the Levco SuperMac SpeedCard I am using right now, which has the sound problem and doesn't have a fix, and which has a more bothersome method to disable the accelerator. Absolutely fantastic, Zane!

Thanks for the extensive testing and photos. The 1N5237B (DF2) seems to be a 1/2W 8.2V Zener. And from your Flir hot-spot test, I see that DF2 is getting quite hot, along with RF11. Also is interesting to see that your massive 5W RL62 replacement still rises to 90.6°C. I agree that RL22...

Another thing that has me baffled is why there is hot-glue only on that RF11 resistor. There are a number of raised resistors on the board, but they don't have hot glue on them. What is so special about RF11 that necessitated hot glue? Hmmm...
