Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

How goes it on this one? Is your board ready for prime time? Haven't seen an update on any of your projects for a bit?

ThinkC How to detect of QuickDraw Color is available?

Sorry I bumped into the wrong forum with the wrong kind of suggestion. Been watching the programming project threads with great interest though. Great stuff, gang!

    MacintoshClassicIIIColorTVp™ - Take 2

Only pic I turned up, bad cold, crawling back into bed, but this is the relevant section of the display:

    MacintoshClassicIIIColorTVp™ - Take 2

Not out on bench, It's been front and center of the AppleDisplayUnit™ for all these years. The pics were snagged off the iFrog album from which they were originally linked. Probably lost a lot of related pics from the upgrade/great pixel robbery and then disappearing cache disasters at the MLA...

    MacintoshClassicIIIColorTVp™ - Take 2

Mine'll be going nowhere very fast just as it's been doing for over twelve years running. ;) Things of interest for @jorg @vorg project. -- closeup lenses for short-throw of image -- pin-cushion distortion induced image correction for field curvature of backside of CRT -- front surface...

ThinkC How to detect of QuickDraw Color is available?

Monitor's Control panel I'd think. TattleTech after that. What Mac are you coding for, CPU type's also a dead giveaway. Anything 68000 is single bit B&W. Anything better should have Color QuickDraw in the ROM/toolbox.

The Macintosh Minus - pi-powered mini Mac Plus clone with 5" CRT display

That one's been played with in a Classic. ;) MacintoshClassicIIIColorTVp™ - Take 2 @vorg you might find something of use in the optical bench experimentation considerations.

    MacintoshClassicIIIColorTVp™ - Take 2

Gonna get back to this one fairly soon, thought I'd post the pics today as they're somewhat relevant to a new project by vorg. https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/the-macintosh-minus-pi-powered-mini-mac-plus-clone-with-5-crt-display.1833/post-16650

    A takky Mac…..

Panel shouldn't matter, we need that MultiSync Controller Board! ;) I'd have been happy had it only supported VGA and SVGA, 16" probably looks a bit nasty by comparison I'd think?

The Macintosh Minus - pi-powered mini Mac Plus clone with 5" CRT display

Lookin' good! Crazy notion for alternate to BackPaq camo: Knock the case back at the base and add feets to rest that cute little KBD upon in a Mini-Lisa3 config.:p

    A takky Mac…..

So it does support/scale 16" input? I need one!

Why doesn't the Performa 630 (and friends) support 1024x768?

There's another table on p.17 where the footnote explains the discrepancy: Very interesting point you bring up about VRAM being reserved for TV/Video options. Frame buffering is quirky on those machines when it comes to what's in the TV-Tuner window. It comes up as an empty box when you do a...

    A takky Mac…..

No fear! That's fabulous, an autoscaling controller/panel combo for the Compact form factor is great news!
  16. Trash80toG4

    A takky Mac…..

That'd be fabulous, but not very likely. If it's scaling 640x480 VGA, it'll likely scale 800x600 SVGA to 1024x768 XGA as well. Running that quarter panel slide show I suggested in GraphicConverter will tell the tale if you set images up for both resolutions.

Cool, but what do they represent according to the manual? Running off to work, so: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/video-adapter-docs-scan-dump.24012/

    A takky Mac…..

You said the VGA Adapter setting was 1024/768, but were going to check that out. ;) There's almost always one switch setting that covers both 640x480 and 1024x768 @60Hz. There is usually one setting that covers anything thrown at it onto a MultiFreq Display. edit: can't imagine any other case...

    It's not. ;)

    A takky Mac…..

Caffeine deprived WAG would be is that the panel's controller is scaling 640x480 VGA to fill the LCD's 1024x768 XGA field. If you had the adapter on the 630 it's more than likely set to handle VGA/SVGA at a minimum and VGA would be what you're seeing from the LCIII? Quick test would be to...
