8MB RAM Card — Speed Testing Results and Analysis
Following up on my earlier question about the slowdown with more than 5MB of RAM, I've done some deeper testing with my v2 8MB card (9MB total system RAM) and wanted to share the findings.
Benchmark results (Snooper Memory Move)
4MB card (5MB...
David,
I've got my 8 MB card working. Seeing slow down a boot with the 8MB setup. Do you understand the reason for the slow down. I 'm writing an INIT to poke the GLU; but I was expecting the slow down only to be post sleep; but now realize is is always there and am concerned that the INIT...
I'm currently in the process of developing RAM cards for my Portable. I have successfully created a 4MB and 8MB card and both work and boot.
However, I am trying to understand the issues with slow access speeds when more than 5MB are in play (1MB on the board, 4 MB on the card). Initially I...
@Froggy814, what were your plans for powering LCD panel? Also, could you just use the space where the hard drive is— perhaps by a bluescsi? Then just have a modern cable run up to the new LCD? Then you wouldn’t need space behind the bezel? Might still be tight but may give you room.
I don't have an elegant way yet.... I was thinking of jumping on the software side of things with the previously proposed use of an INIT to create a sleep hook to poke $FC0200 on wake. My understanding is just with wake from sleep this occurs? and is related to the logic board side...
My goals...
Just put up my next repo for v 2 card; not made yet but might want to look at it for next generation and 4-8MB options.

Finally made my own 4MB card, next is the 4 or 8 MB card design that I'm working on. Fun project. I updated the project and cleaned it up a bit for a git depository. It worked for me on first assembly and was easy to program the CPLD with Tigard...
Maybe start with the cheaper one (micro USB-B) ; we all have adapters. Perhaps keep USB-C for version two if you want... I think the soldering work is overall about the same; more pins on the USB-C
