    OS X 10.7 or 10.8 preferred on a Macbook 4,1?

I'm definitely going to consider this option. Funnily enough, I had initially meant to install OS X 10.6 using an install disc I got from the free rack at Free Geek, but I realised as I was doing the install process it was made for iMacs (I still don't know how I missed that) and the machine...

    OS X 10.7 or 10.8 preferred on a Macbook 4,1?

Earlier today, I restored a Macbook 4,1 I received alongside my iMac G3 that had a completely wiped hard drive. At first, I wasn't certain what exactly the model was, but upon booting into OS X for the first time (and after the headache of setting up a bootable installation disk on my usb flash...

Found my original iPod (M8541), and it's a beauty

I remember the first time I saw a 1st/2nd gen iPod (one of my teachers in 8th grade had one on display in his room, alongside a Beach Boys compilation 8-track), those things are such eye candy.

    Hello from Minneapolis (also)

Oddly enough, I wasn't very familiar with the weather or the tech collecting scene when I moved up here, it was actually just because I had friends and my partner living up here and I wanted to live somewhere with people I was chill with. I think I only ended up discovering Free Geek around a...

    Hello from Minneapolis (also)

Luckily enough, I've been to Free Geek a few times before, it's probably my favorite store in the entire twin cities. As well, I've been to Ax-Man Surplus once and I keep kicking myself for not going there again to check if they have anything I need. I didn't know about Leonardo's Basement...

    Hello from Minneapolis (also)

Hello! I go by vivi and I'm an avid computer fan, especially of late '90s to mid '00s Apple. I've been a semi-active collector since last year (and far less active since 2020, when I got an iPod Mini second generation from my mom) and at the moment have a heavy gravitation towards PowerPC/early...

The black Mac no one asked for (Powermac G3 All-In-One Molar)

I can certainly see both sides to the argument. On one hand, keeping the CD-ROM door black makes it actually look like a professional product, rather than an oversight or cheap modification; on the other hand, making it beige would ironically match with actual Macs of the time, and also be...

The black Mac no one asked for (Powermac G3 All-In-One Molar)

Apologies for bumping the thread, but jeez that looks snazzy! I almost wanna say the black finish makes it look better, but I suppose i do adore the look of both. I also like the touch of having the Macintosh TV and it's case counterpart in the back. B3

Easy way to transfer files to and from iMac G3?

I've been using a usb drive, personally, and while it might not be the fastest thing in the world I'm not exactly dragging big files between my modern laptop and G3 anyways.
