BlueSCSI - Open, Low Cost, DIY SCSI to SD device

See my latest on other odd behavior. There's certainly some odd behavior with Basilisk's file dialog on the Mac. I've tried renaming some of the .hda files to .img and they can load fine in Basilisk. However, when I change them back to .hda I can no longer select them. Unlike some of the...

BlueSCSI - Open, Low Cost, DIY SCSI to SD device

Maybe a difference between windows and Mac version of Basilisk II. On my Mac version, when I go to the file browser and cannot select .hda files. Actually, it's looking like some sort of bug, because I just moved all my hard drive images to a separate folder (I was embarrassed at the state...

LC575 Display Color issue - no red output (update: resolved with reflow of analog board connections)

So things did not go well putting the 575 board in the Color Classic. After putting it in trying to boot, my color classic just makes a weak click with a blip of the power light. I had just started it up with the CC board and it booted fin (no HD, but got the no system disk icon). After...

BlueSCSI - Open, Low Cost, DIY SCSI to SD device

@eric , I seem to be missing something, but I can't seem to use .hda disk images in Basilisk II. Is there a trick to convert them to a .dsk or .img (or is it as simple as renaming the file?)? [EDIT] So it looks like maybe you just rename the file to be .img and it allows me to use it in...

LC575 Display Color issue - no red output (update: resolved with reflow of analog board connections)

Just picked up an LC 575 to use for my Mystic Color Classic upgrade. I was told it would power on but no image, so I thought maybe the analog board may be bad, which didn't concern me too much since I just want the logic board from it. However, when I got it home, I was pleasantly surprised to...

Recapping the LC575 "Mystic" motherboard for the Color Classic

@JDW As always, I'm terrible at trying to find alternative capacitors. Any you would recommend for the 100uF caps since they are on backorder?

    asciiexpress.net legality

I posted a while back about the website ASCII for loading old games or generating new floppy disks. I really liked the idea, but found their mobile web interface to be a bit less than ideal. I actually threw together a native iOS app this evening, and while I need to tweak some of the UX, it's...

What are your vintage grail items?

This year I've crossed quite a few off my bucket list (SE/30, Color Classic, G4 cube, TAM, Newton 130 in original box, Powerbook 540c, clamshell iBook). Some were on the list because I had them, but most were computers I really wanted when they came out but couldn't afford. In terms of items...

    MessagePad locked by PIN?

Awesome bit of software! So I guess when it loads from the PC Card, it actually will run the software, and they figured out how to interact with the PIN system. Really cool, but goes to show how limited tech security was back then. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. Tying to see if I...

Loading Apple II games from your phone!

I never thought about using the "cassette" disk functionality of the Apple II to allow you to load games from your phone's audio jack. Might see if I have an old Android phone I can use expressly as a "disk drive" for my IIe. youtube.com/watch?... Everyone else might be familiar with this...

    MessagePad locked by PIN?

Anyone know if there is a way to unlock a MessagePad locked by a PIN? Purchased a MP 120 Off craigslist and it booted up just fine after putting in new batteries. The problem is that it is locked by a PIN. I believe I can do a hard reset, which would erase all data, but I'd really like to...

    Good TFT for a 512K case ?

I didn't see your design, but I like that it includes tabs with screw holes to secure it when installed, I had to use hot glue to hold mine. Looks like a I have a new one to print!

    Good TFT for a 512K case ?

It sounds like @Bolkonksij just has an empty case, so no logic / analog boards to be used. I know many people use the old iPad displays, but I actually had good luck throwing in a 10.1 1280 x 800 LCD and setting up a raspberry PI to output 1024x768. A little tweaking of the overscan settings...

New BlueSCSI PDS Card slot bracket for Macintosh SE and SE/30

I used a different, but similar mount and had to order a longer SCSI cable. I don't think there's any way to get the original SCSI cable to reach.

    Performa 6400/200 lost video out

OK, so I swapped the main board out with a known working one from a Performa 5500, and still no video. Is there another board handling the video out on the 6400? Could it be a wiring issue? Also, given it has PCI, I'm thinking I may just buy a PCI card with VGA out. Any tips on what a good...

    Performa 6400/200 lost video out

FYI, I did get some fresh batteries in there and for the PRAM voltage up to 4.8, so I don't think it's a problem with the PRAM battery. Interestingly, I seem unable to zap the PRAM now, as I can hold down the Cmd-Opt-P-R and do not get a second boot chime.

    Performa 6400/200 lost video out

I picked up a Performa 6400/200, my old college computer, off of craigslist. It had no hard drive, so I swapped out the hard drive for another I had laying around. Booted up fine, and I moved on to my final plan - dual booting Mac OS 9 and BeOS. I got the drive partitioned, reinstalled OS 9 on...
