    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

And on that note, I would say it's best to avoid YouTube if you ponder the numbers because unless you're a lovely and scantly clad lady, you won't be pleased with view counts and subscribers. My YouTube work is a labor of love, which is also why I keep Ads switched OFF for a better viewing...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Boy! I'm hoppin' mad at myself and deserve a real punch in the nose. All this time, I've been sharing photos of my board taken in the past in this thread because I felt confident I never touched the chips after making my videos. But when using a lens this evening, I discovered that...

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

@phipli Thank you. Sadly, there's still trouble. I installed AppleScript 1.1 using these disk images. During the install, it told me that it would install an older version of the Finder. Not sure why AppleScript should even be replacing the Finder, but it did. It installed 7.1.3...

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

I tried typing in your script manually (since the text of your script was not available). I merely left out "empty trash" because I don't need that. CMD-DEL in S7.5.5 works by merely casting your selection into the Trash without emptying the Trash. Unfortunately, it won't compile and...

Universal System 7.1.2 68k Update Disk Set

When doing all that in Mini vMac (Mac II edition), it looks like a little TV during the boot sequence, but when you open the Extensions folder and try to spot the same icon, I couldn't find it. You have to delete this one: But to start off at the very beginning... I did a clean install of...

ThinkC Nested Volume Manager DA in Megamax C

Instead of working on WarpSE on my lunch break today, I took my standard 4.5km brisk walk. That usually gets my aging brain working a bit better. I believe what the documentation must be saying is to copy only the DRVR resource from the NEST suitcase (via ResEdit) into the System file, but...

ThinkC Nested Volume Manager DA in Megamax C

Eric, thank you. Here are some screenshots... App and Driver "suitcase" icons: "Nest" suitcase opened in ResEdit: Copying ONLY the DRVR from the Nest suitcase into a given System file is easy. But I'm curious what leaving out the other 5 resources will do.

    Software-only OVERCLOCK for LC475, LC575, Quadra 605

I feel very sad. 😢 Folks, APATHY is our worst enemy. Think of someone in this hobby you dislike profoundly. Now consider this: APATHY is worse than they are! I started this thread to INFORM and FIGHT APATHY. As such, I can't help be feel a deep pain in my heart when I hear that "people...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

@Kai Robinson Nobody else so far who has been using WarpSE has had the same result as me, so that IWM chip you shipped me could very well be unique in the world! Later today, I will remove that “IWM” chip from my SE Reloaded motherboard and install it in the stock SE board to see what happens.

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I cannot answer that question until I receive the SWIM replacement from Kay Koba. Right now, I don’t have a SWIM chip to test.

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

@Zane Kaminski Very impressive little oscillator based on my brief look at the Datasheet. This article presents a nice overview of the company, which seems to have been a spin-off from Bosch: This article talks about the trade-offs between MEMS and Crystal Oscillators. And this article takes...

Hacking FinderHack: CMD-DEL for System 7.1

@Opualuan Thank you for your suggestion. Hidden Finder Features does indeed enable CMD-DEL, but only for System 7.5.2 through 7.6.1. The aim set forth in this thread is to find the best way to gain that CMD-DEL functionality in System 7.1.

ThinkC Nested Volume Manager DA in Megamax C

I've known about this Nested Volume Manager article (by Mike Schuster of Adobe, April 1986) since 2007. I've always thought it was a neat concept, which I will summarize thusly: Format a HDD like the Apple HD20 (serial interface) and then use the special Desk Accessory (DA) and driver...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

As shown in my video here, it was @Kai Robinson who shipped me the original bad motherboard which had the IWM chip socketed on it. I moved that to the SE Reloaded board.

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Holy cow, Zane! That test produced an unexpectedly great result for me, using my Model B FloppyEMU: I booted from my BlueSCSI with WarpSE enabled (SE Reloaded motherboard). My FloppyEMU was connected externally. I have a 1.44MB virtual floppy on my FEMU which has a bootable System 6 System...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I wish to humbly thank you for all your hard work on both of those topics! By the way, this is the 1.44MB drive I've been using (pulled from one of my SE/30 machines) in conjunction with my SE Reloaded motherboard and IWM chip: This evening, I booted into System 7.1 and launched MacTest SE...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

@JTRetro You said you cannot read 1.44MB disks, but it's important to keep in mind that I cannot read them either in the Stock 8MHz state (WarpSE disabled). I must enable WarpSE (firmware 0.7d-fastscc), and then 1.44MB floppy access worked (a really 1.44MB floppy drive mounted internally and...
