Jinx! …I had this post open before dinner, thinking about that weird slot, post this comment and then find someone posted basically the same thing in the meantime. Lol.

What should i do with this Macintosh ELSIE prototype ?

Fun floppy slot! I guess they were testing manual inject floppies back when the original LC was developed, but ended up sticking with auto-inject drives in the original LC.

Disk Jockey, a disk image file maker for your retro stuff - Beta for version 3!

Very cool! Especially the partitioning and driver install. I had just assumed that had to be done on a Mac (or Mac emulator) Curious, what SCSI disk driver are you using?

How many 3.5" Floppy drives can you daisy chain?

Really? I always thought you could not daisy chain floppy drives on a Mac, each had to have its own port (unlike say the the Apple IIgs). Somewhere I recall reading the SE could support the most floppy drives, two internal and one external.

Apple eMate 300 Expansion Module (Open Source / Open Hardware Project)

Ah, sorry I should have looked there, I had while back and now vaguely recall seeing those images. Darn, I thought the chance was small mine might be a different rev but wanted to check. Maybe it is just a bad batch of Intel flash chips? I recall when I rebuilt the battery on my first eMate...

Apple eMate 300 Expansion Module (Open Source / Open Hardware Project)

I picked up another eMate advertised as 4MB, is this the same DT320? Rev D? Seems to work fine for me, seeing close to 4MB System RAM and storage.

Macintosh LC 475 ..... need a little help

So it’s a “Formac PL150-21”! …anybody know anything about it? 😛. Not much I see in a quick Google. It does look somewhat similar to Sonnet QuadDoubler, there‘s a nice low profile heat sink on the CPU, and a 89.9 clock crystal. Maybe it runs the CPU at half that, ~45Mhz? The CPU/heat sink being...

Macintosh LC 475 ..... need a little help

No, but I’m intrigued! It looks like a CPU upgrade of some sort, plugging into the logic board CPU socket? Perhaps a Quaddoubler? or L2 Cache? Does the machine boot at present, if so can you run Tattletech or some other utility that reports CPU speed, etc? If is is just connected to the CPU...

My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

Curious, what reference/guides are you using for the stereo mod? I found the following awhile back, ordered a TDA7052A Philips amp chip, but never went any further. https://web.archive.org/web/20090429222614/http://www.stuartbell.dsl.pipex.com:80/PowerCC/CompendS.html

Power Macintosh 4400/200 MacBench 4.0 test results. Spoiler, more L2 cache is generally better, but doesn’t hold a candle to G3 upgrades. Mac OS 8.6 VM off Appletalk off 160GB PATA HD Sonnet G3 400/1MB L2 cache slot processor upgrade used for last test

Glass half full: The florescent backlight is working! Has the logic board been recapped? Getting a startup chime? HD activity noises? I guess you’ve double checked at the connections and played with brightness and contrast?

    PPC Macintosh L2 Cache Modules

The goal for this resource article is to document identification and reference information on the various L2 cache modules for Power Macintoshes and clones. While at a quick glance many of these L2 cache DIMMs look similar there are different pin (edge connector) groupings that key the 160 pin...

Recapping a Performa 550 - Same as Color Classic II main board?

This is totally right for caps, but I think I read somewhere that there is more soldered on VRAM on the LC 550 board than the CC II board. Its not exactly the same. Trivia…

    PowerBook 100 screen recap

Alternatively you could use these too: 3.3µF - 35V - SMT - MLCC - 810-C3216X7R1V335M6A (Mouser P/N) They are “Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors“ vs. the Tantalums above. I used them when I recapped my Duo 230 LCD, they‘re smaller, arguably fit better:
