Sony Trinitron - one of the GREATEST TV and monitor technologies in history 📺

I'm also a big fan of the Trinitron. The first one I had was a 17" Flat square CRT Monitor, one of the last CRT Multisync Monitors that Sony made. I had it paired with a Blue and White G3 Mac so that would have been 1999 or 2000. I wish I would have kept them, but since then I've been...

Compaq laptop brought back to life

Does your Compaq computer have an Active Matrix screen, or a passive screen? With passive screens, you'll have some screen lag, but even then the "Microsoft Arcade" Series is great fun, instant nostalgia from when it first came out in the '90s.

Without a Floppy EMU, how to get files to my Macintosh 512K?

This article has been super helpful to me in my understanding of these things... https://siber-sonic.com/mac/newmillfloppy.html I believe that 400K disks used the MFS file system which did not support folders, it was a flat file system.

Without a Floppy EMU, how to get files to my Macintosh 512K?

@BPearce Congrats on the Romulator that’s a cool upgrade! Not sure if this helps you or not, but I‘be been able to make 400K floppies (On DS/DD disks) using my PowerMac 8600 and Disk Copy 4.2. Disk Copy can write out disk images that are not readable on the Mac OS version on the newer...

Help Request: HOW TO Guide for Cleaning an Apple Extended Keyboard II (AEK II)?

I also recently cleaned an AEK II. I was able to take it completely apart and I can confirm that I had a similar experience as @rikerjoe . The plastics were not brittle and if you work slowly around the board edges with guitar picks you should be able to release the clips without any breakage.

    Macintosh IIsi Power Supply Repair

I've struggled with a IIsi Power Supply also. When you do the recap, pay special attention to cleaning the boards (it's not too late to go back and clean some more). If the capacitor leakage was too bad, it can wreak havoc on the board itself. One of the gurus @techknight posted some good...

Need Help with Houdini II Cable Project - DOS Compatibility Card Y Cable Replacement

Thanks @Androda. Going back and looking at my design based on your feedback, I changed a connector from male to female in order to make the cabling work better forgetting that this will change the order of the pins! I'll go have a look at that. I've done a bit of poking around on the Internet...

Need Help with Houdini II Cable Project - DOS Compatibility Card Y Cable Replacement

I've finally started on a project that's been on my list for over a year. I got a 6100 with a DOS Compatibility card from an estate sale, but it had been separated from the Y Cable. This is a common problem and so the cables are hard to find and expensive. Previously I've duplicated the Y...

I was there, too, but I don’t see myself or my friends in the photos. Did you get the T-shirt with the blue Apple Logo? Good times, thanks @caver01 for posting the pictures!

iMac G3 I/O port cover source?

I believe my search was "Bondi Port Door" but it may have been "Bondi Port Cover". The listing was titled "iMac G3 Bondi Blue Port Door Cover". I hear you about the saved searches. You know it's bad when you are reviewing saved searches and you have to Google the part numbers. "What was I...

    Macintosh SE Power Supply Replacement?

Thanks @eric, I had not and that was very helpful. The 68KMLA forum thread referred to on the video is linked here. In hindsight, it does seem that the Seasonic unit would have been a better way to go. I will keep this in mind in future should I add an accelerator or additional loads.

    Macintosh SE Power Supply Replacement?

@joethezombie thanks for that. While I was working on the restoration I had the original analog board in the machine. With this board I did see screen geometry changes with drive activity but this board was in rough shape and only a couple hours after a complete recap it failed again. With a...

    Macintosh SE Power Supply Replacement?

Hi All, I've recently tried something in a Mac SE that I've been working on, and I wanted to run it by the community here and see if anyone has tried this before, and how it's worked out (or not). After recapping the Power Supply on a Mac SE, I was not able to bring it back to working order...

Flash SIL3112 SATA Controller Card for Mac

Thank you for the advice. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but that didn't work for me. The utility does flash the card successfully, but when testing the card in a G3 B&W and G4 FW800 machines, it prevents booting. (They still do the boot chime, but no video display comes up). When I put...

Upgrading from HDD to SSD - how to migrate data?

I think the easiest way to bless the system folder on the destination drive is by using the "Startup Disk" Control Panel to select the System Folder on the destination disk and reboot the computer one time off the destination drive before you move it inside the machine.
