Metrowerks (CodeWarrior) Stole Prince of Persia’s Slam Sound?!

I just realized that the “Metal Stamp” sound that you can set in CodeWarrior when the compiler successfully finishes is the exact same “Gate Slam” that Prince of Persia makes after a gate opens and slams shut. And I believe Prince of Persia came out in 1992 or earlier prior to the first version...

Macintosh Portable PSI RAM plus ??? Card

Hey guys, I’ve acquired this RAM plus more expansion card for a portable. It’s showing 5MB in the finder. but there’s 4 switches and two cards sandwiched together. Any idea what this card is and what all it can do?

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

I went through all that meticulously when I was trying to figure out what was going on before I discovered it was the ram expansion. It made no difference. I’ve had rest off and sleep set to max and off when plugged in.

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

The problem does appear on first boot (cuts cpu speed in half with 7mb). Then after sleep/wake it cuts that in half again roughly.

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

Yeah I follow. And I’m sure most people don’t even notice. I didn’t. The only reason I noticed was because the Talking Moose was getting all distorted and talking super slow after sleep. buts it is quite a difference in speed drop. Cuts it in half almost. Especially after sleep. And it...

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

Ahh you just basically answered my question. I’m cool with 3MB or whatever a factory ram card gave us. Is there a way for us to flash the card with new code if you come up with a fix?

    BlueSCSI on Macintosh Portable

Cool. So why is a factory OEM card working? Do you think it’s the same but the factory card is just less RAM so it’s not noticeable and this is a bug in the firmware since day one and the more memory you add is just amplifying the issue?

ahh yep that’s no change. And around 2.0 is the expected speed. 2X a Mac plus @ 8mhz resulting in 1.0 speed.
