Purchased a 400mhz G3 ZIFF Upgrade CPU but after installation G3 Still reports 266Mhz

I don't know if other manufacturers did this, but Sonnet for a time was putting high temp cpu's in upgrades and overclocking them. Sonnet claimed reliability was the same, since the chip was a high-temperature chip and could tolerate an overclock at the lower temps of a Mac. Still, I think the...

USB / FireWire PCI combo card for a Power Mac 6400 ?

The Sonnet Tango is the only Firewire/USB card I used that didn’t cause data corruption with Firewire hard drives. An early NEC chip based Orange Micro card for Mac was terrible in that regard, as was a generic card from CompUSA. PM8600.

Lombard / Pismo CD & DVD module drive replacement and 'Master' IDE Hack

I did the mod on the drive carrier, and my Matshita UJ-850S rev1.9 DVD-R/RW DL was able to boot from the Jaguar CD by pressing "C" on the keyboard at startup. This is fantastic - thanks again!

    Recapping a PowerMac 8600 PSU

I realize it has been over a year since you posted the question, and may no longer need the answer, but it looks like this info used to be available at xlr8yourmac.com. I cannot vouch for its accuracy. The pinout diagram from xlr8yourmac.com as archived by the Wayback Machine: Edit: Just...

    PowerBook G4 Batteries

The 17” version uses a flat cell that is no longer made. I have searched high and low for a 17” PB battery, only to receive batteries made for the 17” MacBook Pro.

PRAM replacement on later Powerbook G4?

I’m new to this thread (and forum) but thought I’d make a comment about my own rebuild of PRAM batteries on a few of my 17” PowerBooks a few years ago. I used copper foil with electrically conductive adhesive to connect the batteries in parallel, and then soldered tabs of the foil to the...
