Totally agree! Btw, on my SE/30 with upgraded clean 32 bit rom I have SCSI2SD with 4 SCSI IDs, one of which is dedicated to a OS 8.1 installation. Works just fine.

I would not alter the hardware of the 512k and keep it as original as possible. It’s the first “usable” Mac, there are so many things you can do with it without upgrading it to something it was not. It happened to me with a few keyboards. Desolder / disassemble / clean / check / solder the switch back is my way to go.

Silica doesn’t last forever, it’s much easier to keep the machine in a sealed bag.

I store my PB170 vacuum bagged in one of those zipped bags for saving wardrobe space, along with one humidity absorbing pouch. You just need to be careful, as vacuum is really powerful and you don’t want to exaggerate with it.

That’s indeed a great video, thanks! One question, though... I assume this mod will only work along with a Mystic upgrade. But how about plain CC or CC II logic board? Shall I go for the more invasive “Hi Res” mod?
