BlueSCSI - Open, Low Cost, DIY SCSI to SD device

Thanks for those tips, I'm using Basilisk II booting on 7.5.3 and SheepShaver booting on 9.2.2 on the Mac. It is a bit confusing with the renaming because it seems a bit random which work and which ones don't. I like to use Basilisk to organize files for my 68k Macs and SheepShaver booting OS9...

Open a .hda file in Basilisk II?

I'm trying to open "HD20_512-1GB-MacPlus-6+7.hda" to see what's in it. Is there a way to open it in Basilisk II? I tried renaming the extension to img, disk, but neither work.

Astec LCII PSU connector to the logic board

I ended up buying a package of two 8 terminal Molex plugs for about $4 at my local electronics store (Greenbrook Electronics in New Jersey). I removed the corroded terminals from the original 7 slot molex and I'm going to use the new ones that came with the 8 slot connectors. This way I still...

TDK LCII PSU recap issue, ticking. Doh!… Nevermind

I didn't realize it had to be plugged into the board or it ticks! I plugged it in, it seems to work! I just recapped my other LCII PSU, a TDK this time. It was completely dead. Now it ticks in triplets (123-123-123, etc.). It's very faint and sounds as though it may be coming from the...

Astec LCII PSU connector to the logic board

Does anyone know if there's a part I can get to replace this connector? Mine is so corroded, it's literally falling apart. I found all these little flat corroded pieces of metal in the case not knowing what they were, turns out they're the term connectors inside this plug. I just recapped the...

    Recapping a Mac LCII PSU - replace a 180µf with a 220µf?

Hi, I'm recapping my LCII PSU by Astec. I ordered the Astec recap kit from Console5. The big cap on my board is a 180µf 400v nichicon while the one they sent me is a 220µf 400v. I know with voltage I can go higher but what about micro farads? Not sure how to test the old one to see if it even...

    What's this for?

Apparently, it's an IC lifter, no idea why precision tweezers wouldn't be better though.

It came with my new hot air station. No clue what it is or how to use it.

    RAM ID guidance?

I have a couple static bags of RAM chips (as I'm sure we all do) that leave me sometimes guessing what they are. They all have some sort of ID on the individual chips but it's usually not very telling. If I see a "1024" I can assume it's a 1MB chip but but speed is still a guessing game. Some of...

    Help diagnosing a Mac Plus

Thank you all, I now have a working (second) Mac Plus. I adjusted the voltage 11.98v and 4.99v in the floppy port, adjusted the screen cutoff, now I just need to figure out how to move the screen over a smidge so it's centered.

    Help diagnosing a Mac Plus

Looking up how to adjust the voltage now. I fired up a working SE I have and the FloppyEMU is showing white screen there too. I think the EMU screen came unseated. It's kind of a known problem. I'll take your advice and turn the voltage up a tad, I'll let you all know how it goes. Thank you...

    Help diagnosing a Mac Plus

Spoke too soon! I kept swapping out RAM and got 4 chips that worked. It boots off the floppy disk now! Now I have to figure why my FloppyEMU still has a white screen. :( Maybe it's the voltage coming out of the floppy port? it's about a half a volt low but not too bad, right?

    Help diagnosing a Mac Plus

I put four 1MB chips in and I got a much better screen and mouse cursor. A little crooked but I'll fix that later. Double checked the 256k resister and it's clipped. Now, the known good floppy drive and boot disk are just ejecting like something is wrong with the disk. this disc will boot a...

I'll do some experimenting. I hadn't even thought of that. 2 of those chips say "DO NOT USE IN MAC SE". I'll have to go through all these and see if something works:

    Compact Mac Flyback alternatives?

I have a MacPlus PSU that is starting to make that high pitched tone from the flyback. Is there a way to doctor it up before it fails? The epoxy seal looks intact and no corona appears in a dark room. Floppy port voltage looks good too.

    Help diagnosing a Mac Plus

I've been trying to resurrect this Mac Plus for weeks now. At first I thought it was the PSU because it was so mucked up. After cleaning it up, reflowing the solder joints and measuring the floppy port volts, it seems OK. Here's the next issue: When I hit the power button I get a beep (all...
