    MessagePad locked by PIN?

    Speaking from experience, I don’t think that’s possible … 😄

    MessagePad locked by PIN?

Rather than a “brain wipe”, another method is to use a package called “Battering Ram Pro” … http://www.unna.org/view.php?/utilites/BatteringRamPro Additional information about the package and its use: http://myapplenewton.blogspot.com/2009/11/lost-your-power-on-password-battering.html

Hey, Craig. I wondered when I’d run into someone else from Calgary around here. Yes, I do have a “few” TAMs kicking around (although some other folks are ahead of you in line) and a ton of other Mac gear around here. Are you looking for anything in particular. I would like to start thinning out...

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

I love having all of these pointers to the various videos in one place. Thanks, everyone. Super useful.

    New uses for old MessagePads

That makes sense. You could also up-res the screenshots using nearest neighbour resampling in Photoshop (or similar) to keep the sharp-edged bitmappiness. At any rate, really enjoying these.

Nicely done. Have you tried exporting bitmap screenshot directly from the Newton instead of using the camera?

    Edit / Create Icons

I’ve always used ResEdit … particularly if I’m editing icons while using System 7.

    New uses for old MessagePads

So, this isn’t for an actual band? It’s sporting quite a bit of vaporwave æsthetic.

    An Archive/Resource area

I posted a similar suggestion as a way to use the Resources section. https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/resource-categories.49/#post-2672

Connect ADC monitor to HDMI source

I would certainly put a few of these to good use.

New Zip and Jaz Cartridge Testing Tool!

I’m happy to report that the 0.1-beta-nov27 release runs under Mac OS 9.2.1 on my Power Macintosh G3. I’m running tests on several Zip disks this afternoon and will report my findings in the aforementioned discussion. A couple of initial observations: TIP does not like DOS formatted Zip disks...

    Resource Categories

What if we provided lists of categorized links to existing posts for caps lists, teardown guides, overclocking information, and software (like SCSI Utilities & Drivers)? Given the shear number of subforums there are, having a single resource page with links to these similar chunks of content...

Restoration: Macintosh SE with Water Damage

Following this entire thread, I have been impressed by your perseverance to see this project through. A lesser man (perhaps myself) would have thrown in the towel ages ago. Bravo.

I'll start the thread with pic of my eMate in its glass case.

That image of Amelio and Frank Casanova (a manager in Apple’s Advanced Technology Group at the time) is from my two decade old post “The Elusive Pink eMate”. The image was shot by Seth Resnick and originally appeared in this August 7th, 1996 MacWeek article.

I’ll follow suit with a glamour shot of one of my clear case eMate prototypes. Original image from Flickr.

    MessagePad 120

I don’t have a problem with mailing stuff to the states. These Newton modems are pretty lightweight anyway. DM your address and I’ll let you know what postage will likely be.

    *Battery Gore Thread* NSFMacs

Fortunately, this is the only example of such “chemistry” I’ve discovered so far … fingers crossed that there aren’t any more surprises lurking in the stash.

    *Battery Gore Thread* NSFMacs

Here’s are some images of a Macintosh IIcx that I opened up a couple of years ago. I love how the battery leakage caused the capacitors to foam and look like delicious toasted marshmallow. And by “love” I mean “ew”. An extra bonus is the residual damage to the floppy drive.

Have you looked into the Y2010 patch developed by Eckhart Köppen? It solves the date reset problem on MP2x00 and eMate devices. http://40hz.org/Pages/newton/hacking/newton-year-2010-problem/
