    You on Mastodon?

I can be found at @[email protected] Happy to share my server with anyone who's concerned about extremists causing server issues and/or people losing interest in maintaining their server and/or not keeping up on security. For now I've mostly only been putting up NetBSD pkgsrc package...

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

I've ordered some 74F02. It should be very simple: cut two traces, run four wires from the two traces coming and going, then run two more wires for RAS3 and RAS4, plus power and ground. I won't be back to test it until later in the month, though.

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

I was thinking about one of these for my LC III+ (that hosts http://elsie.zia.io, which is actually about my LC II), but £60-£70 would be a bit much. What might be easier and cheaper would be using a 128 meg SIMM. It should be possible to use a few logic gates to make RAS3 and RAS4 also...

Breaking the 36MB RAM limit on the LCIII

It's very simple, since it's just removing a resistor and installing it elsewhere: LCIII (P450) Speedup Because the fastest m68881 only ran at 25 MHz, I don't know if the m68881 would have issues being overclocked to 32 MHz. On the other hand, all m68882 except for early samples were binned...

Identifying and confirming fake 68040 CPUs (especially the L88M mask)

Thanks, and it's good to be here :) Yes, that might be a bit tough, but I imagine it's just a matter of time before someone starts making whole motherboards which'll need even more CPUs. Then again, people are starting to lay out their own chips, so an '040 compatible superset (no emulated...

    Supplies of 256k x 4-bit DIP DRAM

Hey, Kai! I found an A2091 without any memory on it, so I took a look on AliExpress and ordered 30 of these (it's always good to have some spares): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2255800250966413.html The price is good, so the only downside is waiting for delivery. Hope this helps!

Identifying and confirming fake 68040 CPUs (especially the L88M mask)

I wonder how large a purchase would have to be for Freescale to consider making more. Perhaps the next generation PiStorm will support '040 sockets once the market supply of chips runs out. Are most people here looking for later mask '040s getting them for overclocking, or just to have systems...
